On the morning of June 27, in Beijing, the Prime Minister and Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing attended and spoke at the “Vietnam-China Cooperation Conference on Strategic Transport Infrastructure Development and the Role of Vietnamese and Chinese Enterprises”. Here, the Prime Minister emphasized that developing and connecting strategic transport infrastructure is of special importance, both creating favorable conditions for the two countries to trade goods and travel, and serving as a basis to connect the two countries with the region and the world.
Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing quoted the Chinese proverb “If you want to get rich, build roads first” and shared China’s successful experience in construction, development and cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure. The Chinese side also expressed its interest and desire to accompany Vietnam in this important strategy. Chinese enterprises frankly shared their experiences, lessons and proposed specific models and solutions, especially in technology transfer and human resource development in the railway sector, where China has strengths.
The Prime Minister acknowledged those contributions and pointed out the priorities and immediate tasks, and at the same time drew lessons for effective and practical implementation. The Prime Minister proposed to soon implement 3 standard gauge railway connection projects (Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong; Lang Son - Hanoi; Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong), and in the immediate future, quickly implement the Hanoi - Lao Cai - Hai Phong route. Regarding urban railways, promoting the success of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong route, continuing to coordinate the implementation of urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City...
The Prime Minister hopes that businesses will continue to demonstrate high morale and determination, “turning nothing into something, turning the impossible into possible”, “only talking about doing, not retreating”, further promoting cooperation in the form of joint ventures and consortia, closely and effectively coordinating in the spirit of “harmonious benefits, shared risks”, “listening and understanding together, sharing vision and action together, doing together, enjoying together, winning together and developing together”, aiming to have more and more symbolic cooperation projects between the two countries, for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.
