On June 21, Cat Tien National Park was officially recognized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as the 72nd protected area in the world to achieve the Green List title and the first national park in Vietnam to achieve this title. Cat Tien National Park has a total area of over 82,000 hectares located in 3 provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai. The park has the richest flora in the special-use forests in the Southern region with both terrestrial - semi-flooded - flooded species and is the "common home" of 1,655 plant species and 1,730 animal species. Green List - IUCN is a global standard to recognize nature reserves that have achieved conservation results. This set of standards provides a verification process to ensure that sites meet and maintain 17 criteria and 50 indicators, divided into 4 areas: good governance, good design and planning, effective management and successful conservation results. On November 10, 2001, UNESCO recognized Cat Tien National Park as the 411th biosphere reserve in the world (the second biosphere reserve in Vietnam). On August 4, 2005, Bau Sau wetland of the park was recognized by the Ramsar Convention Secretariat as a wetland of international importance and the second Ramsar site in Vietnam.
