At around 9pm on October 29, the rain stopped but it seemed like the entire Le Thuy district was still submerged in water. After a hasty dinner, Ms. Thanh Lieu (living in Kien Giang town) and her family packed their belongings, boarded a boat and moved to a local hotel to ask for a place to stay overnight.

Having experienced many historic floods, she and her family understand that even though the rain stops, the water can rise at any time in the dark of night. If the whole family were to stay, the flood could submerge everything.
