Disney's "Deadpool & Wolverine" grossed $205 million in North American theaters in its opening weekend and $233.3 million in theaters worldwide. In total, "Deadpool & Wolverine" grossed $438.3 million in its opening weekend, breaking the record for the highest-grossing R-rated film.
With $205 million in North American theaters, "Deadpool & Wolverine" has become the eighth-highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing 2018's "Black Panther" ($202 million) and behind 2015's "Jurassic World" ($208 million) and 2012's "The Avengers" ($207 million).
Only nine films in Hollywood history have topped the $200 million mark in their opening weekend. “Deadpool & Wolverine” easily topped “Deadpool” in 2016 ($132 million) to set the record for the biggest opening weekend ever for an R-rated film. “Deadpool 2” in 2018 now has the third-biggest R-rated opening weekend with $125 million. The latest Marvel blockbuster also tops “Inside Out 2” ($155 million), the first and only $1 billion-grossing animated film of 2024 through July.
After three days in theaters, the film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has become the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2024. Disney spent about $200 million to produce and about $100 million to promote the film. Box office analysts are assessing whether "Deadpool 3" can surpass the $1 billion mark. To date, only one R-rated film has reached $1.07 billion globally: "Joker" in 2019.

Film critics called “Deadpool & Wolverine” “a step in the right direction for Marvel.”
With theaters giving nearly every seat to “Deadpool & Wolverine,” last week’s box office champion “Twisters” dropped to second place. To date, “Twisters” has grossed $154.9 million in theaters in North America and $221 million worldwide.
"Deadpool & Wolverine" is the third installment in the "Deadpool" franchise.
