In the locality where Mr. Hiep works, the People's Council of Lam Ha Ward has also completed the voting process to unanimously dismiss Mr. Hiep from the position of Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, Term III. Currently, Mr. Hiep has retired and the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Ha Ward has been appointed to replace him.

Previously, Mr. Hiep was criticized by Kien An District for letting his wife build a house without permission.

As Thanh Nien reported, in February, the People's Committee of Quan Tru Ward (Kien An District, Hai Phong City) discovered and made a record of Ms. Le Thi Thao (Mr. Vu Khac Hiep's wife) for building 9 adjacent houses on her family's land at 64 Tru Khe, without a construction permit from the competent authority and illegally building on a plot of land with interspersed annual crops but without completing the procedures to convert to residential land.

Based on the records of violations of construction order established and reported by the People's Committee of Quan Tru Ward, the People's Committee of Kien An District issued a decision to fine Ms. Le Thi Thao 65 million VND for the above violations; at the same time, requested Ms. Thao to dismantle part of the illegally built house on the land for annual crops.

Regarding Mr. Hiep, the Standing Committee of Kien An District Party Committee assigned the District Party Committee's Inspection Committee to take disciplinary action according to regulations for not setting an example and allowing his wife to build a house illegally and without a permit.

In early June, Mr. Vu Khac Hiep submitted a resignation letter.

Talking to Thanh Nien , Mr. Hiep said that when the incident happened, he himself admitted responsibility but the district disciplined him too harshly, removing him from the position of ward chairman and transferring him to work as an employee of an administrative unit. "It is better to submit a resignation letter than accept that form of discipline...", Mr. Hiep said.
