She said that training for residency doctors (a special training system of the medical profession considered to train medical talents) must be such that from the residency stage, doctors have enough salary to live on and from there have time to practice their skills.
There are few professions where the study time is as long as the medical profession. After six years of university, doctors who want to work independently must study for a residency or a level 1 or 2 specialist, a master's or doctorate, and the study time to be able to work is at least 9-10 years.
Not to mention, once they start working, they must attend "continuing training" courses to continue practicing.
The medical profession works for human health. Every person from birth to death, whether sick or healthy, needs the care of a doctor. Therefore, it is necessary for doctors to be good at both medical theory and patient psychology to encourage and care for the sick.
Seeing doctors working, everyone thinks that doctors must be very healthy because of the high intensity of work.
In the emergency department of many hospitals, every five days, doctors and nurses have to work a 24/7 shift, surrounded by sick people, and cannot be negligent even for a moment because it is about human lives.
To honor the medical profession and doctors, nearly 40 years ago the Council of Ministers decided to make February 27th every year Vietnam Doctors' Day. On this day in 1955, President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter to the National Conference of Medical Staff, advising "a good doctor must be like a mother".
These days, many flowers and congratulations have been sent to doctors and nurses who have cared for and saved people's lives.
But for those working in the medical profession, they still need to be shared, or rather, invested in and treated properly, especially in terms of salary and allowance policies, and policies related to education and training.
For many years, there has been an opinion that other professions require four years of university study to graduate, while medicine takes six years and the starting salary upon graduation is the same, which is an inadequacy.
Since the end of 2023, many doctors and medical staff have expressed their opinions about the preferential allowance regime that has not been resolved...
Resolution 46 of 2005 of the Politburo stated: "Medicine is a special profession, requiring special selection, training, use and treatment."
Up to now, the entrance exam to medical and pharmaceutical universities is still the most difficult, the study is the hardest, the work is the most intense, but it is true that there are still "hesitant" about the treatment of doctors and nurses. Why is the on-duty allowance only enough to buy two bowls of pho? Why is the allowance for a very difficult heart surgery only a few hundred thousand dong? These questions cannot be prolonged any longer...
