Frequent urination at night in men can be a sign of prostate enlargement or inflammation, overactive bladder or interstitial cystitis, stones, or urinary tract infections.
Frequent urination at night causes a lot of trouble for patients because they often wake up in the middle of the night, lose sleep, and reduce quality of life.
Dr. Tra Anh Duy, Men's Health Center, said that frequent urination at night is a warning sign for the following diseases:
Benign prostatic hyperplasia
Benign tumors are common in middle-aged men, and the tumor size increases with age. The disease is a common cause of nocturia in middle-aged and elderly men.
Overactive bladder
The condition of untimely contractions of the bladder causes the patient to want to urinate frequently, day and night, suddenly, and uncontrollably. If the total number of urinations is high (more than 8 times during the day and twice at night), men are likely to have an overactive bladder.
Prostatitis
Prostate infection is bacterial or nonbacterial. It usually occurs in middle-aged men around 50 years of age or younger (under 40 years of age).

Interstitial cystitis
Chronic illness puts pressure on the bladder, causing bladder pain. The person feels the need to urinate more often, but passes less urine than usual.
Urinary tract stones
The disease commonly occurs in middle-aged men (about 30-55 years old) causing bladder irritation and urinary tract tension due to foreign objects.
Urinary tract infection
Infections can cause bladder irritation leading to frequent urination, possibly accompanied by burning pain, cloudy urine, bloody urine and foul odor...
Some other causes such as aging, drug effects, psychological factors, stimulants or diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, Parkinson's... can also cause frequent nocturia in men.
