Ms. Phan Thuy Linh - General Secretary of the Gymnastics Federation said that the obstacle course - Parkour is expected to be included in the official competition program at the 2028 Olympics. The Asian Parkour Tour is organized with four main goals: promoting Parkour to young people in Southeast Asia, creating a platform to interact with the community at the venue, nurturing friendship and solidarity, and supporting the development of Parkour.
“The philosophy of Parkour is to keep moving and never stop. When athletes see an obstacle in their way, they must come up with a strategy to move forward. From there, they train their courage, their will to overcome difficulties, and never stop in the face of difficulties for those who persistently pursue this sport. This is also a sport that helps players overcome their limits to conquer new heights. Therefore, when practicing Parkour, players will practice discipline, the spirit of not giving up in the face of difficulties to complete their set goals,” Ms. Phan Thuy Linh emphasized.
The program will have the participation of many famous athletes.
In 2018, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) made Parkour an official sport. In 2022, the FIG held its first World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, where hundreds of athletes represented five continents. The number of Parkour athletes is growing exponentially year after year due to the popularity of the sport among young people.
