After exactly one week of release, Two Salts exceed the mark 31 billion VND , as of the afternoon of September 5 (according to data of Box Office Vietnam ). The film starring Quyen Linh is being left far behind by its compatriot in terms of box office revenue.

In addition to the good acting of Quyen Linh and Hong Van, Two Salts revealed many limitations in the script, dialogue and character development. In many scenes, the film is heavy on television and drama, lacking cinematic quality.

'I'm greedy, sometimes a bit too much'

Talk to Knowledge - Znews, Vu Thanh Vinh said he has received feedback and comments from colleagues, the press and the audience in recent days. The director acknowledged the limitations of his first project.

“I rarely use social media so I don’t follow all the comments about the film on social media. However, I read all the articles, reviews in the press and comments from many colleagues. When I go on a cinetour, I also listen to the feedback from viewers. I appreciate everyone’s comments. Among them, there are two quite useful opinions about the ending and the duration. What people say Two Salts "should be tighter and more concise," said Vu Thanh Vinh.

Director Vu Thanh Vinh admits limitations in his first project.

The director shared that from the comments from experts and audiences, he is planning to remake the film with a duration of about 100 minutes, changing the ending to create a different version and appearance for the film. Two Salts.

When asked about the script's weaknesses, Two Salts Being criticized for lacking cinematic quality, plot, and dialogue similar to a TV series, Vu Thanh Vinh responded: “Honestly, this is my first brainchild, so in some places, I was a bit greedy, taking on too much, leading to a lack of conciseness. With this project, I suffered for more than a year, from coming up with ideas, writing the script, casting, filming, editing, post-production... Therefore, there were many scenes that I regretted, not daring to cut them shorter. I calmly listened to the feedback and suggestions of the audience.”

Hai Muoi brings together a cast of veteran actors, including Quyen Linh and Hong Van.

Refers to more revenue 31 billion VND After a week of release, Vu Thanh Vinh commented that this number was beyond his and his team's expectations. Before launching the project, the director only hoped Two Salts break even. With the above revenue, the project is profitable.

“The film crew and I are both happy and excited to receive the revenue news. In the future, we hope the audience will continue to support us.” Two Salts and go to the cinema to watch movies. I cannot reveal the specific investment level for my first project, but I can say that the entire budget is my own savings over many years. The positive revenue performance gives me more motivation and confidence to invest in the next projects," he shared.

"Don't consider Getting Rich with Ghosts as your opponent"

Compatriot's rival Two Salts on the track is Get rich with ghosts from Japan to China. However, the revenue of the film with Hoai Linh and Tuan Tran is doubling. Two Salts.

Vu Thanh Vinh said he has not had time to go to the cinema to watch his colleagues' films. However, it is inevitable that a work will surpass the competition in terms of revenue. He himself assessed that the current revenue figures of both projects are positive and encouraging.

“I think both films are winners. Sometimes, a film released alone would have difficulty achieving the same box office success as it has now. I also don’t use the word competitor to talk about my colleagues’ films. The fact that many Vietnamese films are released at the same time creates excitement for the market and gives audiences more choices,” he said.

Vu Thanh Vinh's debut film still has many limitations in terms of script, character development, and dialogue.

After his first project, Vu Thanh Vinh shared that he learned many "hard lessons", even though he had calculated and planned carefully beforehand.

Assessing the current Vietnamese film industry, the director said the market is fierce, the number of winning films can be counted on the fingers of one hand. However, filmmakers should not be afraid or discouraged because of this.

As for him, before embarking on the 7th art, his relatives and friends all discouraged him. Everyone gave him the same advice: "Vinh is happy, why does he suddenly feel inspired to make a film, making it so hard?" The director himself was also somewhat worried, not knowing where this journey would lead.

But after considering and calculating, he decided to give it a try because "if I don't do it, I will sometimes regret it. If I just stand outside and look in, I won't be able to learn any lessons for myself."

"If I keep encountering difficulties and get discouraged and give up, it's not me. Of course, not everything that I try to do will be achieved as expected. But if we give up trying, we certainly won't know the next results," the director added.

The greatest success with Vu Thanh Vinh after Two Salts is the work that brought Quyen Linh back to the big screen after more than two decades. After the film was released, Quyen Linh also had a frank discussion with Vu Thanh Vinh about the film's shortcomings, especially the work's lack of climax to keep viewers engaged for nearly two hours.

"Linh said I was a bit gentle when making films. But Linh also said that because I was gentle, enthusiastic, and good-natured, she agreed to act in the film. Linh is sincere, kind, and is the person I have to thank the most after my first project," Vu Thanh Vinh expressed.
