During this time, Mr. Chao Phu Nhan, village 4, Dak Ha commune, Dak Glong district, regularly visits the fields to take care of 2 sao of rice. Mr. Nhan said that at this stage, the rice plants develop stems and young leaves. The erratic weather, alternating sun and rain, and low temperatures make it easier for pests and diseases to arise.

Therefore, he focuses on visiting the fields to promptly detect pests such as leaf rollers and stem borers. He trims the rice plants evenly and weeds, preparing to fertilize for the rice panicle and flowering stages. He focuses on fertilizing with NPK components so that the rice plants are strong and grow healthily.

This winter-spring crop, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Que's family in village 2, Truong Xuan commune, Dak Song district produces 1 hectare of corn and peanuts. She is actively weeding, hoeing and preventing pests and diseases for her crops.

Ms. Que said that her biggest concern is the appearance of armyworms. If not detected and treated promptly, these worms can quickly damage corn, severely affecting productivity and product quality, and can even lead to total loss.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Que, village 2, Truong Xuan commune, Dak Song district proactively prevents fall armyworms for 1 hectare of corn and peanuts.

Therefore, she must regularly visit the garden to promptly handle pests and diseases, and take manual measures to prevent them, such as clearing the banks so that there is no place for pests to hide.

If necessary, she will spray pesticides to prevent and control this pest according to the instructions of the pesticide manufacturer.

According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Vui, Head of Dak Nong Agricultural Development Department, proactively guiding and supporting people to prevent pests and diseases in the winter-spring crop is a very important task of the industry.

From the beginning of the winter-spring crop, localities, agricultural extension, and plant protection agencies have guided people to properly prepare for production to prevent pests and diseases.

Specifically, farmers need to prepare materials carefully, clean up and remove plant residues in the fields, plow, harrow and expose the soil. This helps to create ventilation and looseness for the soil, helping plants grow well and increase resistance to pests and diseases.

Another technical solution implemented by localities is to encourage and guide people to plant in a concentrated and simultaneous manner to limit the occurrence and damage of pests and diseases, and at the same time avoid drought at the end of the season.

People in Dak Nong province have produced over 2,000 hectares of various crops in the 2025 winter-spring crop.

The provincial Department of Agriculture guides and replicates the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program on crops, using pest-resistant varieties and measures to grow healthy plants.

The Department of Agriculture encourages people to use organic fertilizers reasonably, balanced and effectively and NPK compound fertilizers with added micronutrients to help plants grow well.

Farmers promote the application of the 3 reductions and 3 increases process on rice plants, increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and savings in fertilizer use; using plant protection drugs according to the "4 rights" principle to improve product quality, meeting the requirements of the consumer market.

People need to pay attention to preventing fall armyworms that cause great damage to the production of short-term crops such as corn, vegetables, and beans.

Also according to the leader of the provincial Department of Agricultural Development, currently, the industry's technical team regularly monitors the development of pests on crops.

In particular, the experts pay attention to some pests and diseases such as rice blast, brown spot, thrips, leaf rollers on rice; brown spot, fall armyworm on corn; wilt, root rot on beans.

From there, the relevant authorities have forecasts, recommendations and specific instructions on timely handling measures to ensure productivity and product quality.

By mid-January 2025, with the spirit of careful preparation and quick planting, Dak Nong people had produced over 2,000 hectares of various crops, about 1,300 hectares faster than the previous year. In particular, some localities had early planting areas such as Krong No, Cu Jut, and Tuy Duc districts.
