Since 2025, Ho Chi Minh City National University has changed and adjusted the exam structure to match the 2018 General Education Program. Accordingly, the school will keep the structure of the Language Use and Mathematics sections unchanged, while increasing the number of questions in these two sections to increase the reliability and classification level of the exam.
The test consists of 120 multiple choice questions with a time limit of 150 minutes, the maximum total score for the test is 1,200 points.

Le Tran Kieu Trang (a student at Thu Duc High School), a candidate at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, said that she had made a long-term and systematic plan to prepare for the exam. Trang shared: “I have registered for online courses and practice tests, attended review classes at school, and studied in groups with friends to consolidate my knowledge and test-taking skills.”
Despite careful preparation, Trang still could not avoid the pressure before the important exam: “I feel quite nervous, because this exam can mark a very big turning point, affecting my admission to the universities I want. I hope to achieve over 800 points.”

Not only candidates, many parents are also worried when the exam takes place. Ms. Tran Thi Anh Tuyet (Ho Chi Minh City) and her child arrived early at the exam site of International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

Ms. Tuyet asked about her children to encourage them and avoid stress. She also sent her best wishes to the candidates: "I hope you always try your best. The worthy results will come as a complete reward for your efforts."
In order to support candidates to complete the exam well, many students have registered to become volunteers. Lam Ngoc Hai Uyen (2nd year student, Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said she loves supporting candidates during exams.
“I hope to be able to help them on their way to getting closer to their dreams,” Uyen shared.

The 2025 National High School Exam will be held in two phases. Phase 1 will take place in 25 provinces and cities, while Phase 2 will be smaller in scale, held in only 11 provinces and cities, scheduled to take place on June 1.
The results of the first and second rounds of the National High School Entrance Exam will be announced on April 16 and June 16, respectively. This year, more than 100 universities will use the results of the National High School Entrance Exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University for admission purposes.
