Da Nang connects direct flights to Indian tourist market

The opening ceremony of the Da Nang-Ahmedabad (India) flight route took place at the International Departure Terminal, Da Nang International Airport, this afternoon, October 23.

The opening of the Da Nang-Ahmedabad (India) route operated by Vietjet Air will create favorable conditions to attract tourists from Ahmedabad city in particular and Indian tourists to experience attractive destinations, enjoy unique cuisine and enjoy typical tourism products in Da Nang - Asia's leading festival and event destination.

In particular, the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City in coordination with Vietjet Air invited Miss Universe India 2024 - Rhea Singha and KOLs Ekta Sandhir to relax, experience and make videos and photo sets to promote Da Nang tourist destinations.

Also within the framework of the program, a famtrip delegation of 20 travel companies and a presstrip delegation of 19 journalists from India came to survey Da Nang tourism, conduct interviews and write in-depth articles promoting Da Nang tourism in major Indian newspapers.

The groups will have 4 days to experience typical tourism products of Da Nang city including Sun World Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda, Ngu Hanh Son, Hoi An ancient town.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that the opening of the direct flight route from Da Nang to Ahmedabad (India) operated by VietJet Air is of great significance, creating favorable conditions to attract and increase international tourists from Ahmedabad in particular and Indian tourists to experience attractive destinations, enjoy unique cuisine and enjoy typical tourism products in Da Nang - Asia's leading festival and event destination.

The Da Nang-Ahmedabad flight route was launched not only to meet the growing travel demand between the two countries but also to open up new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of economics, education, culture and technology.

Da Nang is a dynamic city with a strong economy, an international gateway from the central region to the world. Ahmedabad, a city rich in cultural traditions and a major economic center of India, will be an attractive destination for tourists and investors.

In the first 9 months of 2024, the city's tourism industry achieved impressive results with 8.67 million overnight guests, of which international visitors reached more than 3.17 million.

In particular, the number of visitors from the Indian market reached 139,086, an increase of 4.2% over the same period in 2023 under the condition that there are no direct flights from major cities in India to Da Nang.

In 2024, Da Nang city also attracted 4 large weddings of Indian couples with more than 1,200 guests and 20 MICE tourist groups from India with about 3,000 visitors.

The Da Nang-Ahmedabad (India) route is operated with a frequency of 2 round trips per week using Airbus A320 aircraft, 180 seats/flight.

According to the program, at 6:55 a.m. on October 24, passengers on this flight will receive gifts from Da Nang city, take check-in photos and enjoy art performances as soon as they arrive at Da Nang International Airport.
