Social media influencer Kat Kamalani, a former flight attendant, has revealed why she "hated" her job so much that she quit after six years.

Kat Kamalani, a mother of two from Utah, USA, shared: "I worked as a flight attendant for one of the biggest airlines in the world. I 'hated' every minute of that job."

Kamalani quit her job as a flight attendant.

Kamalani is currently a social media content creator and has 1 million followers on TikTok, 249,000 on Instagram, and 668,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.

In the video, which has attracted more than 350,000 views, Kamalani said that the entire life of a flight attendant depends on seniority, and the number of days they fly will determine everything.

“That determines what kind of plane you fly, what holidays you fly on, whether you get weekends off, whether you get to keep certain days off,” she says.

"One more thing, when you travel on the airline you work for, you can stand-by, which means whenever there's an empty seat on the plane you can get on - based on seniority."

She said flight attendants are considered new if they have been on the job for at least five years or less.

Another reason she "hated" her old job was the intense training process, which was often 15 hours a day, 6 days a week for 2 months. Flight attendants had to take a million different types of tests, and if you didn't pass the tests with an 80% or higher, they kicked you out of the program.

Kamalani also said the way passengers treated her made her "hate" the job of being a flight attendant. "People think flight attendants are just there to serve you drinks, and really we're there because your safety comes first," she said.

Many people are flying during the most difficult times of their lives. They are losing sleep, they are flying in emergencies, they are returning home for funerals, there are many times when people are at their lowest when flying and who is bearing the brunt of that if not the crew?

Flight attendant is the dream job of many people.

Many people mistakenly believe that new flight attendants will fly to dream destinations like Honolulu, Hawaii and Paris.

It can happen but mostly you fly to destinations every day with very short layovers, while you have to wake up super early and go to work red-eyed. This is not fun at all.

Flight attendants shared in the comments section why they left the profession quite similar to Kamalani.

"It's really about seniority," said a 36-year-old retired flight attendant. "The first five years are the hardest. You have to persevere."

Another added: "She's right about the training! And I went through boot camp in my 20s. But I love the job."
