An Emirates Airlines flight attendant has gone viral after revealing the luxurious bedrooms. A video detailing the beds has been viewed more than 8.2 million times on TikTok in the past week.
“Where do Emirates flight attendants rest during flights?” a crew member asks in the video. The answer is through a door and up a secret staircase that leads to a hallway with rooms on either side.
Each of these rooms has its own TV and curtains for privacy, allowing the crew to get some much-needed rest.
Stairway, secret hallway and inside the room
While not as luxurious as Emirates' first class, these lounges are still the envy of onlookers. "It's a secret hallway. This is way better than my seat," one commenter exclaimed.
Interestingly, most Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft have a secret staircase that leads to a small, windowless sleeping area for the crew, including a private area for the pilots.
Few people know these exist because passengers can't see them in any way and they're hidden from view. "On long flights, there's a good chance the flight attendant is sleeping below or above you," one flight attendant told Insider .
That's because on long-haul flights — defined as those lasting more than seven hours — the crew is split into two groups, with half working while the other half rests.
Secret room on Emirates flight
While airlines decide on crew rest area layouts when they purchase aircraft, key parameters are set by regulatory agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
For example, the regulator requires that crew rest areas be "located where noise, odors and vibration have minimal impact on sleep" and they must be temperature controlled and allow crew to adjust lighting...
