Mr. Bui Van Khang (Nguyen Cong Tru Street, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province) is raising three white-rumped birds (a kind of ornamental bird that sings well); one of them was bought in Da Lat for 3 million VND and he has a bird cage with a very sophisticated carved rosewood bottom for 8 million VND.

In recent years, people in Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak Province) have had many elegant and unique hobbies such as: playing with vintage cars, playing with orchids, playing with ornamental chickens, feng shui stones, fine art objects...

Among them, the hobby of raising ornamental birds and specifically raising white-eye birds has been and is captivating many people.

Appearing about ten years ago, until now, the hobby of raising white-eye birds has flourished in the bird-keeping community.

In Buon Ma Thuot City, there is currently a white-eye bird club that attracts many participants, especially young people.

Every second and fourth Sunday morning of the month, come to the coffee shop at 135 Nguyen Cong Tru Street (Buon Ma Thuot City), and you will be able to enjoy a free concert performed by cute and adorable white-rumped birds.

These days, members of the Buon Ma Thuot White-rumped Bird Club gather here to organize bird competitions or exchange and share experiences in raising white-rumped birds. On average, each meeting has about 20 - 40 cages participating.

The ancient white-eye was a small wild bird like a woodpecker. Its appearance was not as beautiful as other ornamental birds, but its singing was very beautiful.

In Vietnam, there are three families of white-eyes: brown-eyes, green-eyes and yellow-eyes.

You can buy this white-eye bird at bird shops on Dien Bien Phu Street for only about 50,000 VND/bird. Bird sellers often lock dozens of wild birds in a cage.

According to the experience of long-time breeders, people often catch about 10 agile, healthy white-eyes in a cage, then choose the ones with thin beaks and loud voices (most of the birds with loud voices are male).

Besides, to have a good singing ring-necked bird, bird lovers often choose birds according to the set such as: Apple head set, snake head set, snake head back set, mouse tail set but must be short because when singing, the bird often sings very beautifully.

The good ring-necked birds must be the ones that often stand in the middle of the cage (the middle bar of the cage, where the bird stands), have a clear, loud, long voice and are competitive with their kind... The ring-necked birds must have high legs and shiny feathers to create a beautiful bird shape.

Bird Cafe on Nguyen Cong Tru Street (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province) - a meeting place for people who are passionate about the hobby of raising white-eye birds. White-eye birds are one of the ornamental birds with beautiful singing voices.

Once you have chosen a white-rumped bird, you must also pay attention to the bird's diet. According to Mr. Nam, owner of Bird Coffee Shop (135 Nguyen Cong Tru), Head of Buon Ma Thuot White-rumped Bird Club - with 3 years of experience raising white-rumped birds, the main "fresh" food of white-rumped birds is insects, fruits and pollen.

In captivity, bird keepers cannot provide the above food sources. Only bran is the main food source for raising birds, the main ingredients are green beans, chicken eggs and some other synthetic nutrients.

The place where the bird cage is placed must be quiet, away from too much sun and wind. The bird must be cared for regularly, with regular feeding, watering, bathing and sleeping times. When going out or when the bird is sleeping, the cage cover must be put on to protect against the wind and to prevent the bird from being startled.

A club member, young man Nguyen Tu Linh (Tan Lap ward) confided that playing with white-rumped parakeets requires a lot of passion because it requires a lot of effort, time and money. A bird selected for competition must go through many stages of care and elaborate training such as grooming, feeding, bathing; regularly taking the birds to "interact" with other birds so that they can practice singing.

Besides taking care of and raising starlings, the "class" of the bird is also shown in the cages and troughs (food containers).

There are many types of bird cages and troughs today: popular ones are simple bamboo cages, priced at a few hundred thousand dong; slightly more expensive ones are coconut ball cages, regular seal cages, priced at around 1 million dong each; more high-end ones are double-sided seal cages, carved cages.

Special types of bird cages include bamboo cages with inlaid or carved ivory, tortoiseshell, or even cages made of 100% ivory, tortoiseshell, or horn, priced from several tens to several hundred million VND each.

Like Mr. Bui Van Khang (Nguyen Cong Tru street) is raising three white-rumped birds; one of them was bought in Da Lat for 3 million VND and he has a bird cage with a very sophisticated carved rosewood bottom that costs 8 million VND.
