(Dan Tri) - In the Vietnamese market, artificial intelligence (AI) tools are constantly developing, leading to many arising issues such as security or copyright.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - CEO & Founder of Color Me - Graphic Design Training Center shared with Dan Tri reporter his perspective on the artificial intelligence (AI) market in Vietnam, its useful aspects as well as the potential risks it can cause to users.
Sir, AI has been present in Vietnam for a long time, but in the last 2 years, AI tools have really exploded. So what are its outstanding features in the Vietnamese market?
- At the end of 2021, the AI wave in Vietnam began to explode and until now, what impresses us is mostly generative AI, also known as generative AI. This is an AI tool with the ability to create many different types of content.
This perspective is very simple, however much data we have, AI will generate as much new data.
In Vietnam, we are very impressed with the ChatGPT tool with the ability to create text paragraphs, Mid Journey uses AI to create images or Runway is used to create videos.
More recently we have Copilot which can generate lines of code in programming. So any type of data we have, can be generated by AI.

Why does generative AI play such an important role in this wave of AI, sir?
- In my opinion, it is when the world develops to the threshold of automation, which is becoming more and more popular in all fields, or it is the problem that people encounter every day in their studies and work, which is creativity.
This means we have to figure out how to create new works, new images, new movies or new software. With the current power of AI, the ability of humans to work in the creative industry is increasing and almost limitless.
I believe that whether students or office workers, we all have to be creative, in all different elements of work, sometimes just making a report, brief, development campaign plan or Big Idea... To do something, we all have to start from different creative ideas that users need to initiate.
While generative AI is still constantly changing and evolving, the most far-reaching impact we can expect to see in the coming months is that this intelligent technology will help users increase their productivity at work and in their studies.

To create an AI tool we have to use a lot of data, this has given rise to a very controversial issue which is data copyright, can you share your perspective on this reality?
- To be more precise, AI is very broad and the tools we see and come into contact with recently are largely derived from deep learning or neural network technology (a series of algorithms designed to find basic relationships in sets of data).
All these technologies need to be trained with a lot of data. From the very first days of ChatGPT's birth, the community raised many questions about where the data came from to be able to create such a smart AI tool?
Or like Mid Journey, it creates beautiful images. It must have had a previous image resource, used to train the artificial intelligence very deeply. This is a very big copyright issue.
For example, if we integrate articles and books into AI tools, will the authors of that content get anything?
I understand that European countries are gradually coming up with a plan regarding copyright, and in about a year, all generative AI models will have to disclose the content that tech companies use to train them. Only then can we truly respect each other on copyright issues.
All data that engineers use to train AI must be consented to by all authors, or the content must be made publicly available for free under the current terms.
Some international experts say that this is currently a gray area of AI, meaning we cannot yet determine what is completely right and what is completely wrong. The copyright issue is still very difficult.
Therefore, we must be cautious in using and publicizing AI-generated content.

Regarding stories, products or content generated by AI, do you think those products should be recognized as copyrighted?
- Content generated in part or in whole by AI, copyright issues are being addressed by many countries building policy and institutional frameworks to provide legality to content related to AI.
There are also many countries that are condemning it and they are considering discussing to establish a legal system to allow what kind of AI content can be commercialized and what kind of content can only be used by users for personal purposes.
This raises a problem, which is that AI-generated content always has to be divided into many different copyright categories. In fact, AI-generated content is actually still being used to make money on Youtube and Tik Tok.

Can you share some examples related to this issue?
- If you go to Youtube and search for the keyword "audiobook", the results will show many audiobooks (talking books) without authors. These are books made entirely by AI.
Accordingly, users will create the content of a book entirely with AI and then convert it to an artificial voice. This is text to voice technology.
Finally, they will embed the product into the video to make the viewer feel like they are enjoying an audio version from a real book.
Just on the Youtube platform, we can see that there are many books that are completely unreal, completely created by AI.
Another equally troubling issue is that there are many websites and blogs that produce content almost entirely using AI.
Some studies have shown that if we overuse AI to generate new data and then use it to train another AI tool, it will lead to a point where artificial intelligence collapses. This will make the content created by AI no longer meaningful and people will feel that AI is no longer useful, no longer creative.
I believe that the world coming together to establish a thorough copyright regime will help us have a healthier future in working and living with AI.

Websites created by AI to scam users are no longer strange, and have even appeared in the Vietnamese market. Can you share the signs to recognize this as fraudulent content?
There have been many scams and blackmails involving AI recently, the most common being Deepfake technology - victims' faces are grafted onto unhealthy or blackmail content. Deepfake content has been banned in many countries, they absolutely do not support this technology regardless of its use for any purpose.
When an AI tool is created, there will always be technologies to counter it. For example, if there is Deepfake technology, there will also be technologies to detect what is Deepfake content.
Or if we write articles entirely by AI like on ChatGPT, there will also be technology to check whether this is an article by a human or from the above tool.
So we have to equip ourselves with these recognition technologies, and users also need to supplement their skills to identify what type of content is generated by AI and what content is generated by humans.

In the Vietnamese market, more and more phone products are integrated with AI to support users? So is the issue of human privacy security safe when using AI features on these devices, sir?
- I believe that the security issue on AI-integrated phone products is extremely serious. Recently, Apple has also integrated Apple Intelligent (Apple AI) into the iPhone 16 series.
Right at the launch of this new generation phone, the company had to be transparent about all content and server systems used to respond to user commands.
Accordingly, all of these servers are not accessible to anyone and the entire content creation system from Apple Intelligent can be audited (rigorously) by a third party.
It sounds simple, but everyday tasks like asking Apple AI about the weather or asking AI to create a plan, these are all personal information and if it falls into the wrong hands, they can completely find out your location or know what you are doing. This is really dangerous.
As a result, all generative AI is moving toward being placed on separate servers and must be proven to be immune to third-party hacking or interference.
Another problem is that when we use AI on technology products, every AI created must use a computer to calculate the answer. If the computer is integrated right into the user's phone, it will be much more secure.
If the computer the AI uses is located somewhere else, it will definitely affect the security of the data. Therefore, we should find out whether the AI engine is running on your device or from another server.

At Color Me, it is known that you have applied AI to many tasks. Can you share the benefits it brings to the company?
- We have been researching AI aspects of work very early on for the past two years, to understand what is good and what is not good for students studying creative fields.
I have some comments, first of all, that even for beginners learning about design and creativity, they really should not abuse or use generative AI too early. When your expertise and skills are high enough, you should consider learning about supporting AI tools.
As for the HR system aspect, in a recent survey I realized that almost all of the company's employees use AI on a weekly, even daily basis for work purposes.
It could be generating reports, sending emails, or getting ideas from AI. I think having AI as your virtual assistant to help you with your work would be a huge productivity boost.
For the programming teams in the company, they all admit that AI has tripled their productivity.

Does applying AI to programming have any disadvantages, sir?
- One thing we have to admit, AI will be very harmful to anyone who does not have enough expertise in the field and uses AI too early, they will create products that are not of good quality.
For example, if a programmer uses AI to create code that they don't understand, that employee will later be unable to find the location to fix the error or change the application name.
Or for those who work in reporting, when they use AI to generate charts that they don't understand if the chart is correct or not, and can't test against, it's an extremely scary double-edged sword.
Regarding the story of using AI for creativity, do you think that the abuse of these tools will reduce human thinking?
I believe that using AI to reference ideas helps us think of more aspects and perspectives that users have not yet realized.
But sometimes it also makes us lazy to innovate. People need to understand the nature of AI is that it has collected all the ideas that have existed in the world from the past to the present and when users request, it will return the results.
So if we stop being creative, stop coming up with new ideas, sooner or later AI will lose its creativity, there will be no originality, no new features created.
This is something that any business is quite worried about, especially those companies related to creativity.

In the field of media in general or journalism in particular, there are actually newspapers around the world that have deployed technology to produce articles from AI. In the future, can AI replace humans in some fields, sir?
- The concerns about AI replacing humans in some fields and some technologies, I think, are partly true.
We ourselves, when testing generative AI, have produced quite surprising and convincing results. Of course, there are still results that are false and lack evidence for users to trust.
The question is, will we be replaced? This has been proven throughout history, with each technological revolution. When a disruptive technology is created, jobs are inevitably lost, but new jobs are quickly created.
Especially for those who apply that technology to deploy in their business or build new business ideas.
In a future where repetitive, uncreative jobs are gradually replaced by AI and machines, we will also quickly see many young people with expertise and the ability to work with AI quickly creating many new jobs.
As OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has said, I believe there will soon be young people who become self-made billionaires with almost no employees. They can build an army of people entirely made of AI; they can turn business ideas into reality.
That is something we all observe, look at and wait to see if it will happen in the future or not?
Thank you for taking the time to chat!
