At the seminar "Dialogue between Universities and Enterprises on Human Resource Development in High-Tech Fields" co-organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University, Mr. Kenneth Tse - CEO of Intel Vietnam assessed that in terms of knowledge, universities have been and are being well equipped, but the development of soft skills and specific techniques for each company needs to be more guaranteed.

Mr. Lam hopes that Ho Chi Minh City National University and other universities will help students strengthen their research and problem-solving skills by integrating skills into teaching content at universities.
According to experts, soft skills education at Vietnamese universities and colleges is an urgent issue. Currently, educational institutions have recognized the important role of soft skills for students and have begun to integrate soft skills in many different forms such as: Including soft skills in output standards, teaching as topics, independent courses or integrating into courses with advantages in soft skills education depending on each training institution.
According to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, since 2019, soft skills have been focused on, made into a supplementary subject and trained in the first semester, to help new students get acquainted with the university environment. The soft skills training model is combined between formal training and extracurricular activities. The main skill groups focused on training are communication - communication, teamwork, analysis - work organization, problem solving.
Starting from the 2024 school year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will deploy soft skills into 8 modules: Effective communication, cognitive management, self-management, conquering employers, scientific thinking, writing projects - reports, global thinking - innovation, leadership thinking methods. These modules are arranged to be taught throughout the 4 years of study to help students have conditions for continuous practice.
Connecting schools and businesses
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Huong - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Vocational Education (Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs), in the immediate future, special attention should be paid to the issue of skills training for young workers, in order to take advantage of the "golden population" structure to make a breakthrough. In particular, it is necessary to focus on improving the issue of labor skills, especially the core team of young people.
Mr. Mac Van Tien - Vice President and General Secretary of the Association of Vocational Education and Social Work said that skills are formed during the process of training workers and also cultivated during the process of direct labor and production. Therefore, there needs to be a connection between schools and businesses to join in training workers, thereby adapting to the changes of businesses and the rapid development of technology.
To improve the quality of vocational training, create a premise for building and developing high-quality human resources, the Hanoi People's Committee has developed a plan to train and develop soft skills for youth and vocational students. According to the Project "Training and developing soft skills for youth and vocational students" in the city by 2030, Hanoi strives that by the end of 2030, 100% of colleges, 80% of secondary schools, and 50% of vocational training centers will organize training, integrate training, and develop soft skills for youth and vocational students. At the same time, Hanoi will form a network and link between businesses and vocational training institutions in training and developing soft skills for youth and students in vocational training institutions.
The report of the Ministry of Education and Training also pointed out one of the current shortcomings and limitations, which is that the work of educating children, pupils and students on ethics, lifestyle and life skills is not really effective. This is also one of the important tasks that the Ministry of Education and Training will continue to implement in the 2024-2025 school year and the following years.
