According to Quang Tri Airport Company Limited, the Quang Tri Airport project is being implemented synchronously to put into operation as soon as possible. Currently, the aircraft parking area has been basically completed. The investor of the Quang Tri airport project plans to start construction of the ground works in late April and early May 2025.

Quang Tri Airport Company Limited said that according to the project documents approved for the investment phase before 2026, the structure of the runway, taxiway (called runway) can only ensure the reception of code C aircraft (small and medium size).
With the desire to anticipate the upgrading and extension of the runway, the investor wants to adjust the runway design documents from receiving code C aircraft to receiving code E aircraft (large size).
The leader of Quang Tri Airport Company Limited said that upgrading the runway structure of Quang Tri airport aims to ensure synchronous development of the aviation industrial park in the province, with Quang Tri airport as the core.
It is known that the Quang Tri Airport construction investment project officially started on July 6, 2024, in Gio Quang, Gio Hai and Gio Mai communes (Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province).
With a scale of over 265 hectares and a total investment of over 5,800 billion VND, this project promises to bring many economic benefits to the region.
Quang Tri Airport is currently designed to meet 4C standards and a level II military airport, capable of handling Code E aircraft, serving 5 million passengers and 25,500 tons of cargo per year.
