Philippine player wins Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2024

Johann Chua regained the cue ball, successfully pushed the 5th ball and then the remaining balls. Excited after the easy game, the Filipino player won in a row to raise the score to 7-2.

Ko Pin-yi tried to catch up and at one point reduced the score to 7-8, but Johann Chua played solidly and re-established a 4-point lead, raising the score to 11-7.

Ko Pin-yi's hopes were dashed in the 19th game. From a seemingly easy 9-ball situation, the world's 13th-ranked player unexpectedly missed, giving the game to Johann Chua. The Filipino player accepted Ko Pin-yi's gift, raising the score to 12-7, before closing the match at 13-7.

After successfully executing the final shot, Johann Chua jumped on the table in joy, because he had just won the first WNT Major title of his career.

This is the biggest achievement of Johann's career so far. He will receive the Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2024 trophy from the organizers and pocket 30,000 USD.
