Girl from Bac Giang traveled alone for 9 months, revealed unbelievable expenses

Spending a whole year traveling and exploring nearly 20 provinces and cities alone, a young girl in Bac Giang surprised everyone when revealing the expenses.

The “first times”

Nguyen Thu Thuy (25 years old, Bac Giang) said that 2024 is a year that marks many “firsts” in her life. One of these is Thuy’s decision to conquer Ta Chi Nhu peak, one of the most beautiful and highest mountains in Yen Bai province in March.

Before that, Thuy never thought she could climb the mountain because she had low blood pressure and poor health. One day, Thuy decided to try to find the answer to the question: "Can I or not?".

Finally, the young girl chose Ta Chi Nhu in the direction of Nam Nghiep village to climb the mountain because this is where hawthorn flowers are in season, blooming white all over the forest.

Thuy's mountain climbing journey began with crossing steep passes. The rugged, dangerous terrain made her tired.

The higher she climbed, the more challenges she encountered. In addition to being so tired that she wanted to give up, Thuy was also tormented by strong winds and biting cold.

However, the girl still walked slowly step by step until she could finally stand on the top of Ta Chi Nhu, looking out into the vast space, enjoying the majestic natural beauty.

Successfully conquering Ta Chi Nhu, Thuy found herself able to go beyond the limits that she previously thought she could not do.

“When I stood on the top of the mountain, the wind was blowing fiercely, I realized that the greatest thing I had conquered was not the top of the mountain, but the fear and doubt within myself,” Thuy said.

After that trip, in March, the young girl continued to Trang An (Ninh Binh), Ta Xua (Son La). In April, Thuy went to Hue. This was the first time Thuy had the experience of traveling alone.

The pace of life in the ancient capital quickly attracted the girl from Bac Giang. Thuy always found herself in tune with that pace of life. She loved Hue like a child far from home missing home. So in April alone, Thuy visited Hue 4 times.

The trip to Hue alone gave Thuy more motivation to make many other discoveries. From March to December 2024, she visited Ninh Binh, Yen Bai, Son La, Dien Bien, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Hue, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Hanoi, Quang Ngai, Ha Giang, Lam Dong, Quang Ninh.

Unexpected costs

Thu Thuy shared: “I spent the whole year traveling because I thought that while I still could, I should take advantage of it. Because the experiences now and in the years to come will be very different.

I chose to go alone because if I waited for someone to go with me, I wouldn’t know when I could start. Moreover, finding someone with similar interests is not easy.”

When deciding to travel alone, Thuy also had many hesitations and worries. After all, the girl still set out with a ready mindset.

Thuy chose to bring the lightest luggage possible. In addition to clothes, she also prepared some medicines and necessary items.

During 9 months of traveling and exploring, Thuy has traveled through 17 provinces and cities, experiencing famous tourist destinations such as: Trang An, Phu Quy Island, Hoi An, Da Lat...

After exploring the majestic mountains and forests, the girl experienced the coastal roads of the South Central Coast with blue sea, white sand stretching in the golden sunshine...

Interestingly, Thu Thuy’s year-long travel journey only cost about 50 million VND. Thuy confided: “I prioritize exploring experiences, so I mainly choose tourist attractions with free or cheap entrance fees.

I often travel by bus instead of plane and prioritize using cheap accommodation and food services. Therefore, my year-long travel expenses are not as expensive as people think.

In addition to experiential travel, last year, I also stepped out of my comfort zone to participate more in community activities and meet new friends.

For me, the past year has been challenging but also very meaningful. I have tried many new things, explored and surpassed my own limits.

That helped me realize that youth is very short, so I want to live every moment to the fullest, experience everything I can so I won't have any regrets later."
