There is sand, progress increases every day
From mid-May 2024 until now, since sand arrived at the construction site, the construction of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, component project 1, section through Dong Thap province has been basically smooth, with progress increasing every day.
Construction of component project 1, Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, section through Dong Thap province.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Project Manager, VNCN Investment - Construction and Engineering Joint Stock Company, the contractor in charge of constructing 9.4km of component project 1, said that up to now, the progress of the package implemented by the company has reached more than 35.5%.
At the construction site, the contractor arranged 220 workers and 45 specialized machines and equipment to construct the works related to the 9 bridges in the project. At the same time, workers performed the necessary steps to load the roadbed.
"The contractor has loaded over 3.6km of roadbed. Previously, when there was little sand, the contractor focused on sections with long loading times. When there was more sand, the loading was carried out on a large scale," said Mr. Tuan.
With sand at the construction site, the Cao Lanh - An Huu highway, component project 1, section through Dong Thap province, progress is increasing day by day.
As for the 3.5km long package by Thien An Mechanical and Construction Company Limited, Mr. Phan Van Hanh, Project Manager, said that the construction progress to date has reached more than 49%.
"The package that the company is in charge of has a loading period of 19 months. Therefore, when the sand arrives at the construction site, the contractor's construction is more favorable. Up to this point, the contractor has loaded the second layer of more than 250m," Mr. Hanh added.
October will have enough sand for construction within a day
According to Mr. Hanh, the contract package implemented by the company requires a total of 520,000m3 of sand. To date, the contractor has brought more than 160,000m3 of sand to the construction site. From now until the end of the year, the contractor needs an additional 300,000m3 of sand.
Contractors are waiting for more sand to speed up construction of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway.
Since the beginning of September, the contractor has received about 2,000m3 of sand per day at the construction site. While the actual demand for sand is 3,200m3 of sand per day to ensure construction.
"Currently, the contractor has arranged 150 workers and 45 machines and equipment. This number, in terms of machines and equipment alone, has doubled, and the number of workers has tripled compared to before the sand arrived," said Mr. Hanh.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, the contractor was assigned by Dong Thap province to directly exploit the sand mine and reallocate it to other contractors to construct the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway.
In early October, another sand mine was exploited, meeting the needs of roadbed construction for the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway.
The package implemented by the company requires a total of more than 1.7 million m3 of sand. To date, the contractor has received 440,000 m3. Currently, the contractor has 8,200 m3 of sand/day for construction, while in reality it needs 10,000 m3 of sand/day.
To ensure the implementation time, from now until the end of the year, the contractor needs an additional 800,000m3 of sand. With three current sand mines, Dong Thap province will exploit another sand mine in early October to meet the progress of roadbed loading.
"When the sand mine provided by Dong Thap province is exploited in early October, to speed up the construction progress, the contractor will increase 20% of workers, machinery and equipment to the construction site to serve the construction," said Mr. Tuan.
The Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway starts at the intersection with the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway in Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province. The end point is at the intersection with the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province.
Of which, component project 1 is 16km long, passing through Dong Thap province, with a total investment of over VND3,600 billion. Component project 2 is 11.4km long, located in Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces, with an investment of over VND2,200 billion.
The scale of the completed phase cross-section meets the standards of a four-lane highway. The cross-section of phase 1 is divided into four-lane investment scales, with a roadbed width of 17m and an operating speed of 80km/h.
