The core approach to responsible artificial intelligence in technology application, trends in ethics formation, orientation of legal corridors and world experience lessons were discussed at the workshop on the afternoon of September 21.
Within the framework of the Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day (AI4VN 2023), the workshop with the theme "Responsible use of artificial intelligence", co-organized by the British Embassy, will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on September 21. The program will be broadcast live on VnExpress Newspaper and the Facebook pages of the British Embassy and the British Consulate General.
In the program, speakers and experts will present the context of artificial intelligence (AI) development in Vietnam, strategies and orientations for training, research, application; and legal orientations in Vietnam.
After the welcoming speeches of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and the British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thu Lam, Vice President and General Secretary of the Faculty - School Club - Vietnam Institute of Information and Communications Technology (FISU) was the first speaker with an overview presentation on the development of Artificial Intelligence in Vietnam.
As one of two Vietnamese speakers, Dr. Nguyen Bich Thao, University of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, gave a presentation on approaches, developments and challenges in the law regulating AI in Vietnam.

Following this, three presentations will highlight the responsible use of AI technology from speakers from the Alan Turing Institute, who are key experts in the development of policies, regulations and implementation of the UK Government’s AI programmes.
Dr. Allaine Cerwonka brings an approach to UK AI regulations and suggests for Vietnam, through the Development Strategy and White Paper on Artificial Intelligence Regulation.
Christopher Thomas presents his ideas and solutions for developing effective and responsible AI standards. He is a Research Fellow in the Alan Turing Institute’s Public Policy Program, focusing on AI standards, governance, and regulatory reform.
The final speaker was Dr. Shyam Krishna. A researcher in AI ethics and public policy, focusing on interdisciplinary research on emerging technologies, he shared his thoughts on ethical issues and policy decision-making.
In the panel discussion, representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, FPT Smart Cloud, the Alan Turing Institute and Oxford Insights will discuss the dilemma of innovation and uncertainty. This is an opportunity for government representatives, technology and legal researchers, and the business sector to discuss and share in depth their own perspectives and concerns about the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
AI4VN 2023 with the theme "Power for Life" takes place from September 21-22 at Riverside Palace, 360D Ben Van Don, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City. The event is directed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, organized by VnExpress newspaper in coordination with the Club of Faculties - Institutes - Schools of Information and Communication Technology (FISU).
In addition to workshops, leaders of ministries, branches, domestic and foreign experts will have the opportunity to update a series of outstanding AI trends, through AI Summit, CTO Summit 2023 and AI Expo exhibition space, demonstrating multi-industry technology application solutions, and recruitment booths.
