National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue works with the Standing Committee of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee

Continuing the visit and work in Gia Lai province, on the afternoon of January 26, in Pleiku city, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the Central Working Delegation worked with the Standing Committee of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Gia Lai province Ho Van Nien reported to the Chairman of the National Assembly on the work of Party building and the political system, the province's socio-economic results in 2023 and key tasks in the coming time.

After listening to the opinions, the National Assembly Chairman commended the province for spending nearly 46 billion VND to organize activities to visit and wish a happy New Year. More than 48 thousand social protection beneficiaries who are receiving monthly social allowances have received support with a total budget of 14.4 billion VND. These are practical care activities in a difficult context.

The National Assembly Chairman expressed his delight that the Gia Lai Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, has been approved, with the view of developing Gia Lai towards becoming a model of a sustainably developed economy, taking ecology as the foundation for growth, taking digital applications and digital transformation to shorten the gap and increase the quality of growth.

Many outstanding aspects of Gia Lai have achieved encouraging results. Specifically, culture and sports have been focused on and promoted. Many athletes of the province have won many medals in sports competitions. Indigenous culture with its unique features has been focused on preserving and promoting, which has led to the development of tourism activities. Political security and social order and safety have been maintained. Party building and political system building have been carried out well.

The National Assembly Chairman noted that from the first months of 2024, the province needs to drastically implement administrative reforms, improve the investment environment, call for agricultural product processing industry, pay attention to education and training, social security in former resistance areas, promote the maintenance of ethnic boarding schools, and prepare well for cadre work, especially female cadres and ethnic minority cadres for the next term.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that with the second largest land area in the country (first in the Central Highlands), the second largest population in the Central Highlands, located in the center of the Development Triangle (Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia) with strategic significance; with 46% of ethnic minorities, in 2023, the province's indicators will all be in the middle of the country. This shows the persistent efforts, struggles, and solidarity of the Party Committee, government, and people of Gia Lai province.

With the quite comprehensive results achieved, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Party Committee and the government of Gia Lai province to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, democracy, innovation, and creativity, and successfully carry out the political tasks of the province. Gia Lai strengthens the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system; and promotes the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity.

The province proactively deploys the plan to implement the resolutions of the 8th Central Conference; studies, supplements and concretizes the resolutions of the Party, the National Assembly and the Government into the tasks and development goals of the locality. Focuses on directing the preparation work for the organization of Party congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 17th Provincial Party Congress. Pays attention to innovating and improving the quality of activities of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, People's Councils and People's Committees at all levels; continues to effectively contribute to the activities of the National Assembly.

The province urgently develops and effectively implements the approved Provincial Planning implementation plan; contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 23 dated October 6, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development orientations and ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Along with that, it is necessary to promote the construction of connecting infrastructure within the province and regions; strengthen administrative reform, improve the investment environment. Economic development must be harmonious and synchronized with cultural and social development and sustainable exploitation of resources, especially forest resources.

Effectively implement the National Assembly's Resolution on a number of specific mechanisms and policies to implement national target programs, as well as land policies for ethnic minorities in the Land Law (amended) and regulations in other laws and resolutions passed by the National Assembly at recent sessions.

The province pays attention to comprehensive development and improving the quality of education - training, science - technology; "awakening" the potentials and strengths of tourism, developing eco-tourism products, agricultural tourism; preserving and promoting the diverse and unique colors of Gia Lai province's traditional culture. Doing a good job of taking care of people's health, proactively controlling all kinds of epidemics. Doing a good job of social security, sustainable poverty reduction; continuing to ensure national defense, maintain security and order, and a peaceful life for the people.

With its important strategic position, Gia Lai province needs to focus on thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing the Resolution of the 8th Central Conference on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation.

Emphasizing that Gia Lai needs to continue promoting the role of local elected bodies, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, the National Assembly Chairman noted that the People's Council and the People's Committee of Gia Lai province have coordinated well in reviewing legal documents and administrative procedures, thereby submitting to competent authorities to issue Resolutions for the institutional and policy building program for the next term. Thereby contributing to the effective implementation of Resolutions of the Central Committee and the Provincial Party Committee.

With the province's potential and advantages, along with the important results achieved, the National Assembly Chairman believes that the Party Committee, government, army and people of Gia Lai province will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, innovation, creativity, overcome difficulties and challenges to successfully implement the Resolution of the 16th Provincial Party Congress, realizing the goal by 2030 to turn Gia Lai into a province with fast, effective and sustainable development; the center of the Northern Central Highlands region and the driving force in the Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia development triangle; by 2050, to become an "Ecological, Sports and Health Plateau", an ecological, different and unique destination, a green land rich in cultural identity.

Gia Lai strives for an average growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of 9.57% per year in the 2021-2030 period. The National Assembly Chairman said that the province needs to make great efforts and determination. Regarding transportation, the province currently has road and air transportation, so the difficulty is in attracting investment, especially investment in processing agricultural products.

Taking note of the province's recommendations on highway development, the National Assembly Chairman said that the province needs to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches in investment preparation. In arranging administrative units at district and commune levels, the province should not be hasty, but must be based on science and practice, based on standards on natural area, population size and criteria and conditions as prescribed by law, while paying attention to carefully considering specific factors on history, tradition, culture, ethnicity, religion, beliefs, customs, practices, geographical and natural conditions, and residential communities...

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue witnessed the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) donate 10 billion VND to Gia Lai province to support the construction of a border commune police headquarters, contributing to improving the quality of work to ensure security, order and protect border sovereignty in the area.
