Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Bui Quang Huy delivered a speech launching the Tree Planting Festival "Forever grateful to Uncle Ho" and launching Youth Month 2024.
Speaking to encourage and assign tasks to the youth of the whole country, the National Assembly Chairman expressed his joy and emotion to revisit the historical land of Truong Bon, attend the launching ceremony of Youth Month and the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho in 2024 organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Nghe An province.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that in his letter to youth and children on the occasion of the Lunar New Year in 1946, Uncle Ho wrote "A year begins in spring, a life begins in youth. Youth is the spring of society". The annual Youth Month is a very meaningful activity, starting in each new spring, the season of Youth; it is an initiative drawn from the vivid reality of the youth movement and the work of the Union.
After 20 years of continuous innovation and development, Youth Month has truly become a widespread political activity of the youth of the whole country, the center of the Youth Volunteer movement, becoming a milestone of the Youth Volunteer movement, awaited, responded to and participated in by tens of millions of union members, youth and people every spring.
“This is an environment for young people to burn their enthusiasm for training, dedication, showing their spirit of dedication, not afraid of hardship, volunteering in difficult and new tasks, going to remote areas, border areas, and islands. Hundreds of millions of young people have participated in activities; millions of meaningful works, tasks, and activities have brightened the image of Vietnamese youth in the new era with pure hearts, bright minds, great ambitions, and patriotism; affirming the pioneering role of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and young people in participating in socio-economic development and national defense,” the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.
Youth Month also recognizes the increasing attention and care of the Party, State, political system and the whole society for young people.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the National Assembly Chairman warmly commended and congratulated the achievements of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the youth of the whole country in organizing Youth Month in recent years.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee for choosing the theme of 2024 as "Year of Youth Volunteers", identifying the theme of this year's Youth Month as "Youth Volunteers for Community Life"; organizing the Youth Month Kick-off Ceremony and the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho at the same time, demonstrating the spirit of action and high determination of the Youth Union chapters at all levels.
Promoting the strength and creativity of the youth force To successfully implement Youth Month and the Youth Union's work program in 2024, the National Assembly Chairman noted and emphasized a number of contents.
Specifically, first, 2024 is a year of special importance, the whole country is accelerating the implementation of socio-economic development tasks, striving to achieve and exceed the goals and targets of the term; it is also the year marking many special events of significance in the youth volunteer movement, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the "Three Readies" movement, 10 years of the "Year of Youth Volunteers" and 25 years of the "Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign".
The National Assembly Chairman stated that, in the context that the country is still facing many difficulties and challenges, Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially the Youth Union at all levels, need to continue to have a deeper awareness of the role and position of young people: "Youth is a great social force, the backbone of the country, the vanguard force in building and defending the Fatherland, one of the decisive factors in the success or failure of the cause of industrialization, modernization, international integration, and building socialism"; thoroughly grasp the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 12th National Youth Union Congress, term 2022-2027: "Young people must be pioneers and volunteers in carrying out political tasks; in difficult and new tasks; ready to share for the community; volunteer to go to remote, isolated, and disadvantaged areas; to the poor and disadvantaged; ready to go anywhere, do anything the Fatherland needs".
From there, create all conditions to strongly arouse the enthusiasm of young people, promote the strength and creativity of the youth force in carrying out the political tasks of the locality and unit.
The National Assembly Chairman especially hopes that young people will first of all perform well in their working positions, making important contributions to the implementation of the common goals of their agencies, units and the whole country.
Second, the Youth Union at all levels needs to summarize both theory and practice over 20 years of organizing and implementing Youth Month; constantly innovate and be creative in selecting content, designing and organizing activities, so that Youth Month can fulfill its mission as codified in the Youth Law 2020, continue to develop to a new level, become more profound, practical, effective, have a wider and more sustainable spread, increasingly better meet the requirements of both caring for, accompanying and promoting the role of young people.
Third, “for the benefit of ten years, we must plant trees, for the benefit of a hundred years, we must cultivate people”, Youth Union chapters at all levels need to do better in education work to promote the spirit of initiative, volunteerism, and creativity of young people, to participate in activities for the benefit of the community, to build and mobilize organizations and individuals to invest in youth development and for Youth Month to continue to develop to a new height.
At the recent 12th National Youth Union Congress, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent his warm feelings and a very profound message to the young generation of the whole country: "Just as trees only sprout in the spring, people who want to create a career that is useful for themselves and for society must also start from a young age."
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that all levels of the Youth Union, members and youth will continuously cultivate revolutionary ideals, strive to study, practice, contribute and build the country to become increasingly rich, beautiful and powerful, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's great powers as Uncle Ho always wished.
Fourthly, in response to the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho, the National Assembly Chairman requested that all levels of the Youth Union and youth nationwide continue to effectively maintain good models and practices in tree planting, afforestation, environmental protection, and climate change prevention; regularly organize activities to care for and protect trees, and preserve a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful living environment.
Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to pay attention and make appropriate investments in environmental protection and climate change response; conduct extensive propaganda so that all classes of people enthusiastically participate in tree planting and afforestation; continue to raise awareness and take effective measures to protect forests; increase investment and application of science and technology, create support mechanisms, and encourage the development of the forest economy, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
Fifth, Youth Month is also an opportunity for the Party, the State and the whole society to care for the youth. The National Assembly Chairman requested that Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, ministries, branches and organizations strengthen leadership, direction, guidance and coordination to effectively implement youth work; dialogue, listen, trust and assign tasks to the youth; increase the participation and contribution of children and teenagers; help the youth have the best opportunities and conditions to practice, strive and mature. Continue to care for, support and create all favorable conditions and mechanisms for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to effectively carry out its mission of caring for, educating, nurturing and promoting the role of the youth in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
With deep affection and belief, the National Assembly Chairman wishes the Central Youth Union and all levels of Youth Union, Youth Union members, and young people nationwide an exciting, safe, practical, and highly effective Youth Month with many creative, engaging, and attractive activities for young people.
On the occasion of launching the 20th Youth Month, quoting To Huu's poem about youth, the National Assembly Chairman hopes and wishes that Vietnamese Youth Month will always be "forever 20 years old":
"20 years old heart is full of blood.
20 years old soul spinning in the storm
The tendons are tight and the muscles are taut.

*On the occasion of the launching ceremony of Youth Month 2024 and the Spring Tree Planting Festival of Giap Thin, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy, and First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy presented gifts to village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in the community.
Leaders of several National Assembly Committees presented 50 gifts to former youth volunteers for their contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Students in difficult circumstances were given bicycles and gifts worth 1 million VND/student. The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association sponsored 20 orphaned students until they were 18 years old - 500,000 VND/month.
At the launching ceremony, the Central Youth Union Secretariat presented meaningful projects to Nghe An province to implement during Youth Month 2024, including: supporting Nghe An Provincial Youth Union to implement social security activities such as visiting and presenting gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers and revolutionary veterans; providing free medical examinations and medicine and giving gifts to children and people in difficult circumstances, gifts to ethnic minorities; livelihood models for people to develop the economy... The total value of resources and projects is 5 billion VND.
*2024 is also the 55th year of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's will. At the launching ceremony, the National Assembly Chairman handed over the torch - the flame of enthusiasm of the young generation carried by 55 outstanding young people of the province from Nam Dan - Uncle Ho's hometown to Truong Bon, the historical symbol of the Vietnam Youth Volunteers to the First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy. Representing the youth of the whole country, Mr. Bui Quang Huy lit the torch carrying the flame of enthusiasm, the flame of volunteering to officially launch the Youth Month 2024.
Immediately after that, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organized a campaign to respond to the Tree Planting Festival, Forever Grateful to Uncle Ho in the Spring of Giap Thin 2024. The Central Committee of the Youth Union and Nghe An province will plant 10,500 trees including casuarinas, purple-flowered lagerstroemia, and especially 70 new Bauhinia trees with seeds taken from Dien Bien province planted at Truong Bon historical relic site.
Before that, at the relic site, the National Assembly Chairman and the delegation visited the painting exhibition "Proud of a strip of mountains and rivers", and watched folk games performed by children organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
On February 25, 67 provincial and municipal Youth Unions and affiliated Youth Unions organized activities to respond to the Tree Planting Festival and Youth Month 2024. During the peak period from February 16 to March 10, Youth Union chapters at all levels across the country registered to plant more than 3 million trees.
According to the program, on the same evening, in Nghe An province, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union will coordinate with units to organize the program "March Border" in 2024 to raise awareness, foster ideals about territorial sovereignty and national borders for members and young people, promote the spirit of vanguard and volunteerism of young people in participating in socio-economic development, taking care of cadres, soldiers and people, and children in border areas.
*Also on the morning of February 25, at Nam Thanh Secondary School, Nam Thanh Commune, Nam Dan District, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and delegates attended the inauguration and handover ceremony of the "Space for reading, interaction and team activities". This is a project implemented by the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of Young Pioneers.
The National Assembly Chairman presented teachers and students of the school with a photo of "Students of Trung Vuong Secondary School, Hanoi gathering to wish Uncle Ho a long life (May 19, 1958)". Nghe An children, who were delegates attending the first mock session of the "Children's National Assembly" (September 2023), presented a painting they themselves drew to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
