National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed Senator Steven David Daines to visit Vietnam in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and in the second year of implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, openness, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness and active international integration, Vietnam attaches importance to its relations with the United States and hopes that the bilateral relationship will maintain a positive development momentum, become increasingly substantive and in-depth.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the support of the US Congress and senators for the development of bilateral relations in recent years, and asked the Senator to continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation between the two sides, increasing exchanges and contacts at high and all levels, including between the two countries' parliaments, promoting cooperation in areas such as economy, trade and investment, science and technology, energy, overcoming the consequences of war, for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Senator Steven Daines agreed with the National Assembly Chairman's proposals on promoting bilateral relations, pledging to continue contributing to the development of Vietnam - US relations, increasing exchange activities and visits of members of the two countries' parliaments, expanding and deepening bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, including between the state of Montana and localities in Vietnam.
