NDO - On the afternoon of November 21 (2:30 p.m. local time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man led a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam to Pochentong International Airport, Phnom Penh, starting an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia and attending the 12th Plenary Session of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) from November 21 to 24, 2024.
Welcoming National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam at Phnom Penh airport, on the Cambodian side were Second Vice President of the National Assembly Vong Soth; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Committee 5 Nim Chantara; Secretary of the National Assembly Committee 6, member of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group Keo Pisth; and officials of the Cambodian National Assembly.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia; a large number of Vietnamese people in Cambodia were also present at the airport to welcome National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
This is the first official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia by Comrade Tran Thanh Man in his capacity as Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, demonstrating the trust and closeness between the two countries' senior leaders.
A high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam led by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia to implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, which gives high priority to the traditional friendly neighborly relationship with Cambodia.
The visit contributes to the implementation of high-level agreements, especially the results of the annual meetings between the Politburo of our Party and the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, as well as the High-level Meeting of the Heads of the three Parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, promoting the results of Comrade To Lam's working trip to Cambodia in July 2024.
The visit aims to continue bringing the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship into a new stage of development on the basis of equality, mutual benefit, effective cooperation, and respect for each other's interests; to propose major directions and measures to improve efficiency, create new momentum for economic cooperation, and strengthen connectivity with the two countries in the coming time; to contribute to consolidating strategic trust and deepening relations with the two countries.
In the working schedule of the Chairman of the National Assembly of our country and the leaders of the neighboring country, the two sides assessed the overall results of cooperation between the two Parties, two countries, two National Assemblies and discussed and agreed on directions for cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries in the coming time, both within the bilateral and multilateral frameworks; promoting the resolution of a number of difficulties and problems arising in the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man represented our Party to attend the 12th ICAPP Plenary Meeting to promote our Party's active participation and contributions to ICAPP, promote relations with Asian political parties, contribute to common regional issues; strengthen relations between our Party and the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), and demonstrate respect for the leaders of the Cambodian Party and State.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the 11th IPTP Session as a guest of the host country to show support and goodwill to the host country Cambodia, especially during Cambodia's term as IPTP Chair; thereby, contributing to strengthening and developing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two National Assemblies in particular and the two countries in general.
