On November 27, within the framework of his official visit to Japan, President Vo Van Thuong received Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance Nikai Toshihiro, former Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, key members of the Alliance's Executive Board and a number of parliamentarians in the Executive Board of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

The meeting was also attended by leaders of several Japanese localities and economic organizations. In a friendly and cordial atmosphere, President Vo Van Thuong and Japanese parliamentarians expressed their joy at witnessing the remarkable developments in all fields of politics, economics, culture, education, local cooperation, people-to-people exchange, etc. of the Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation after 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. President Vo Van Thuong thanked the members of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, especially Chairman Nikai Toshihiro and former Prime Minister Suga, for always paying attention and dedicating sincere friendship to the country and people of Vietnam and making many positive and effective contributions to the development of the relationship between the two countries. Affirming that the relationship between the two countries has great potential to achieve even greater progress in the coming time, President Vo Van Thuong suggested that Chairman Nikai and the Parliamentary Union continue to pay attention to and promote cooperation between the two National Assemblies, continue to organize parliamentary delegations to visit Vietnam, promote exchanges between parliamentarians, young leaders, and female parliamentarians of the two countries; promote the bridging role of the Friendship Parliamentary Organizations, and at the same time promote cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, high-tech agriculture, education, labor, and tourism, etc.The President asked parliamentarians to support the organization of more cultural festivals in both countries. President Nikai Toshihiro, former Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide and the leadership of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance warmly welcomed and expressed their emotion to welcome President Vo Van Thuong on an official visit to Japan on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations; thanked the President for his sentiments towards Japan over the years; expressed his belief that the visit would help bring the relationship between the two countries to a new height; affirmed that they would continue to pay attention to and support the promotion of cooperation with Vietnam in all fields, especially in areas with much room for cooperation such as labor, agriculture, science and technology, energy, local exchanges, people-to-people exchanges, etc.; and make every effort to promote the Vietnam-Japan university project, a symbol of the cooperation between the two countries. The President affirmed that local cooperation connections, exchanges between young generations, and cultural exchanges are important factors promoting and connecting the two countries; shared unforgettable memories of having participated in Vietnam-Japan youth exchange programs many years ago and visited many localities in Japan. The President asked the parliamentarians to support the organization of more cultural festivals as well as youth exchange programs for the two countries' young generations, strengthening practical connections between localities, thereby contributing to the development of sustainable Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the future. At the meeting, Mr. Nagasaki Kotaro, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, reported to the President about Yamanashi Prefecture's recent establishment of friendly cooperation with Quang Binh Province; expressed his desire to promote cooperation between localities of the two countries in the fields of green transformation and high-tech agriculture in the coming time.
