Many candidates are still wondering and worrying that making mistakes in the admission process will cause them to miss out on the opportunity to enter university. Therefore, in order to help candidates choose the “right and correct” major, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh, Vice Principal of Phenikaa University, has proposed some very important “strategies”.

Things candidates need to note

Experience from previous years shows that candidates who do not have a good "strategy" in arranging their wishes may miss the opportunity to be admitted to their favorite schools, or even fail to be admitted to university due to unnecessary mistakes.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh, Vice President of Phenikaa University.

To limit these unnecessary errors, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh gave some very important notes. The Vice President of Phenikaa University commented that this year, thanks to the General Admission Support System of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates will not be confused in choosing different methods as well as combinations. They only need to choose the major and school they want. This helps candidates reduce errors in the admission process. Because in previous years, many candidates made technical errors when choosing the wrong method and combination, and ultimately did not achieve the best results, this year, the System of the Ministry of Education and Training is superior, allowing candidates to no longer need to choose methods and combinations.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh noted that although there is no need to select a method or combination, in the section on selecting a database for comparison, students need to select all the data (such as academic records, high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment exams, etc.) and then enter correctly and tick enough. Then, the System will ensure that candidates are considered for admission by any method because there is enough data.

“Candidates who have been conditionally admitted under the early admission method, if they really like that major and that school, then put it on their first choice. If not, candidates can completely put this choice below and put their more favorite choices on top. However, they must remember to select and tick the conditionally admitted choices in their wish list and arrange them in order from most favorite to least favorite,” Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh added.

In addition, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh also gave comments on this year's score distribution. According to the Vice Principal, looking at this year's score distribution, we can see that there is not much fluctuation compared to 2022. Schools have many different admission methods, and high school graduation exam scores are one of them. Depending on each school's admission plan, the number of quotas for the high school graduation exam score method will have different weights.

Thus, if we base too much on the score distribution, but the number of quotas equal to the high school graduation exam scores is different between schools and majors, then the score distribution may not have a big impact on the standard score.

“I think the benchmark will change, but it is important that candidates have a firm grasp of information about the schools and majors they intend to apply for; benchmark scores of recent years as a basis for consideration. At the same time, candidates also need to carefully consider the enrollment plan and the number of quotas for each school and major in 2023. Based on data from previous years, enrollment plans, score distribution, etc., candidates can make the choice that is right for them,” Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh commented.

In order to help candidates make the right choices and maximize their chances of being admitted to their favorite universities and colleges, today (July 22), the 2023 University and College Admission Choice Day takes place at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Here, a team of lecturers and consultants will help candidates make the smartest and safest choices.
