"House on fire" produces… beauty queen

Báo Công thươngBáo Công thương07/03/2025

Many days after the scandal of false advertising for Kera vegetable candy, Miss Thuy Tien finally apologized.

Livestream at prime time, "ask for help" at midnight

Since the Kera vegetable candy product (Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company) was launched on the market, along with close friends such as Quang Linh Vlogs or Hang Du Muc, Miss Thuy Tien is also one of the extremely important factors contributing to spreading the reputation of this product far and wide.

The sweet advertising statuses with tens of thousands of interactions and explosive livestream sessions at the right prime time have helped Miss Thuy Tien and her friends attract thousands of consumers to access the product. It can be said that all the promotional events and introductions of Kera vegetable candy products are not without the presence of the most beloved beauty queen in the Sen Vang family.

However, when the scandal of false advertising about Kera vegetable candy products broke out, Miss Thuy Tien suddenly "disappeared" in an inexplicable way. Meanwhile, her companion Quang Linh Vlogs had to quickly post an apology.

So people were once again in an uproar, guessing and guessing. Some people thought that the reason Miss Thuy Tien suddenly became quiet was because she was busy "taking care" of another close friend in the capital city of Paris (Miss Thuy Tien became a "brand close friend" of the Dior brand).

Some others believe that this incomprehensible silence could be the beginning of something extremely shocking in the future. Indeed, after a series of days of being "hot ears" because of being called out by the online community, on the night of March 6, the Facebook page with 2.6 million followers of Miss Thuy Tien officially posted an apology about the scandal related to the Kera vegetable candy product.

Regardless of the content, Miss Thuy Tien's post immediately attracted the attention of netizens because the timing of this post was very special.

In contrast to the livestream sessions held during prime time, Miss Thuy Tien's apology was sent to the online community at midnight - a time when many people had fallen asleep and the number of interactions had decreased significantly. So what was the reason that prompted Thuy Tien to post an apology that very night?

Regarding this, public opinion once again had conflicting views. Some people thought that Miss Thuy Tien only apologized now because she had just finished performing in Paris for the Dior brand and had time to look back at the scandal that had just occurred.

However, there are also opinions that the reason Thuy Tien had to post an apology at midnight was due to the "heat" from the decision of the authorities against the vegetable candy brand Kera.

In fact, on the afternoon of March 6, the Food Safety Department issued a document requesting relevant agencies to conduct an inspection of some celebrities and social influencers advertising Kera vegetable candy products in violation of regulations on some websites, Facebook, and Tiktok.

The inspection notice also mentioned Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company (distributor) and ASIA LIFE Joint Stock Company (manufacturer) of Kera vegetable candy products. When the inspection activities are carried out, Miss Thuy Tien certainly cannot stay out of the game. Therefore, Miss Thuy Tien's apology is also a timely action, and is even considered an effective temporary "fire-fighting" solution in response to the calls from the online community.

There is an old folk saying that “only when the house is on fire do the rats come out”, implying that only when there is an incident, things that are kept discreetly and carefully will be exposed to the outside. After the “fire” that happened with Kera vegetable candy products, consumers finally saw Miss Thuy Tien appear to post an apology.

Because of "innocence" so manipulated by the producer?

Returning to Miss Thuy Tien’s post, in addition to apologizing for causing “worry and concern” to users, the Golden Lotus beauty queen also affirmed that all the information she shared was based on information provided by the factory. She said that this was a big lesson for herself.

When Miss Thuy Tien apologized, many people expressed their sympathy in the comments section. Some said that Miss Thuy Tien may have been given incorrect information by the manufacturer, leading to incorrect product introduction and promotion.

However, many people also think that Miss Thuy Tien blaming the factory is unacceptable. Because with her level of knowledge and understanding, could Miss Thuy Tien easily let a factory manipulate her psychology?

In addition, Miss Thuy Tien is accompanied by a team of assistants who are considered extremely professional. Could it be that no one has noticed the false content when communicating about the product? Before advertising the product, could it be that Thuy Tien and her colleagues did not carefully research the information about the uses and quality of this product?

Miss Thuy Tien's apology certainly cannot satisfy the public. After all, Thuy Tien is a famous person, so her words and actions will greatly influence the trends and behaviors of users.

Is it the way of a responsible celebrity to advertise a product without fully understanding its nature? Suppose celebrities like Thuy Tien disregard the law to advertise falsely about the quality of the product, how much damage will consumers suffer?

Moreover, the product that Thuy Tien is promoting is food, which belongs to the group of goods that have a direct impact on the health of users.

I think, instead of blaming the manufacturer, Miss Thuy Tien herself and her team of associates need to seriously consider their role and responsibility in communicating, promoting, and bringing products to the public and consumers. We cannot let the situation of false advertising and then posting an apology online happen again like now.

On March 6, the Food Safety Department sent a document requesting the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department to urgently inspect the operations of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company (located in the city) regarding the production, publication, and advertising conditions of Kera vegetable candy products.

At the same time, strictly handle violations (if any) in accordance with the provisions of law, and publish inspection results on mass media.

The Food Safety Department also requested the Dak Lak Department of Health to urgently direct an inspection of ASIA LIFE Joint Stock Company (located in Dak Lak province) regarding compliance with the conditions in the production process for Kera vegetable candy products, and whether the production of "Kera vegetable candy" products on the licensed production lines is in accordance with regulations or not.

At the same time, strictly handle violations (if any) in accordance with the provisions of law and announce the results on the mass media.
