A bridge of cooperation, towards the future between Hanoi and Australian localities

On the afternoon of December 23, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh had a meeting with Australian Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of his term in Vietnam.

At the reception, Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski expressed his deep gratitude for the valuable support of the city government for the activities of the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, as well as for him personally during his tenure. He especially appreciated the city's interest and support for RMIT University of Australia.

The Ambassador said that RMIT is looking for a suitable new location to build the school to continue developing education in Vietnam. He emphasized that with appropriate policies, Vietnam and especially Hanoi will attract more and more high-quality educational institutions from Australia and other countries. The Ambassador believes that Hanoi will continue to benefit from the cooperative relationship with Australia in the future.

Ambassador Goledzinowski also expressed his hope that after returning home, he will continue to contribute and support the development of Vietnam and the capital city of Hanoi. He expected that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries would further promote the substantive and comprehensive relationship between Hanoi and Australian localities.

Thanking Ambassador Goledzinowski for his sharing, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh highly appreciated the Ambassador's role in promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia.

Chairman Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that Hanoi is ready to create favorable conditions for Australian businesses to invest in the city in areas such as strategic infrastructure, telecommunications, finance - banking, education, high-tech agriculture, climate change response and digital transformation, and hopes that Australia will also create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses, especially from Hanoi, to invest in Australia.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee also expressed his belief that, with his personal feelings and experience, Ambassador Goledzinowski will continue to make positive contributions to the relationship between the two countries in any position.

The friendship and cooperation between Hanoi and Australia have been developing steadily over the years. Hanoi has been promoting cooperation activities and delegation exchanges at all levels with Australian localities, focusing on sharing experiences in urban planning, cultural and educational exchanges, and economic cooperation.

By September 20, 2024, Australia's total investment in Hanoi reached 803.78 million USD with 148 new projects, focusing on the fields of information and communication, processing and manufacturing industry and healthcare. Australia has also provided Hanoi with two non-refundable aid projects with a total capital of 2.09 million USD to improve its capacity for planning and development control. Hanoi's export turnover to Australia reached 35 million USD, while its import turnover from Australia was 448 million USD.
