In just 20 days, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways were opened to traffic, connecting nearly 150 km through Binh Thuan. This event is considered a "golden opportunity" to help the locality effectively exploit its potentials and advantages, especially for the tourism industry, which will have more favorable conditions to rise to its full potential.
The smooth expressway will certainly have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of Binh Thuan in the coming time, but in the short term, local tourism has benefited. In fact, when the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway (99 km long, passing through Binh Thuan nearly 48 km) was opened to traffic on April 29, right on the occasion of the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, it contributed to the tourism industry welcoming about 160,000 visitors, double that of last year. After the holiday, many accommodation establishments on the key tourist route Ham Tien - Mui Ne and the southern area of Phan Thiet still had a stable number of guests registering to stay every weekend thanks to more convenient transportation than before.
As for the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway (100.8 km long), which was put into use on May 19, it has officially connected nearly 150 km through Binh Thuan. Thus, cars traveling from Ho Chi Minh City after traveling all the way through the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway will take about 2 hours to reach Ba Bau intersection (Ham Thuan Nam). If they do not go to Phan Thiet, they can go straight to Tuy Phong to visit and explore this land... It can be said that opportunities are opening up for the "smokeless industry" of Binh Thuan, because this is a destination with many poetic natural landscapes, especially the strength of sea and island tourism (with 192 km of coastline and many islands and islets).
Currently, the whole province has nearly 600 accommodation establishments with about 18,000 rooms, of which dozens of hotels and resorts have been ranked 3 - 5 stars, creating a competitive advantage in attracting high-end vacationers. Along with the climate of little rain, lots of sunshine and wind, local tourism is also favorable in welcoming guests all year round and has conditions to develop recreational sports on the sea such as windsurfing, kite surfing, SUP or scuba diving to see corals...
Recently, Binh Thuan tourism has also created an attractive attraction for tourists everywhere with two new rising "stars": Phu Quy (Phu Quy island district) and Cu Lao Cau (also known as Hon Cau, Tuy Phong district). The islands surrounded by the vast sea and sky with a fresh environment, pristine landscapes and rich seafood specialties have urged many tourists to pack their backpacks and "go right away". In addition, communication and social networking activities have also contributed to making Phu Quy and Cu Lao Cau "hotter" than ever, becoming the top priority destinations that many tourists want to experience soon... Therefore, it is forecasted that in the coming summer of 2023 with hot weather, sea and island tourism may "explode" when the number of visitors continues to flock to entertainment and resort areas in Binh Thuan.
Mr. Manh Cuong (living in Tan Binh District - Ho Chi Minh City) said that his family and relatives had previously gone to Phan Thiet many times for weekend vacations, but the travel took a lot of time so they only stayed around the "resort capital". Now that the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway has seamlessly connected the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet section, the family plans to take a trip to explore Hon Cau next month...
Not every place has the advantage of foreign transportation and the attraction of sea and island tourism. The remaining problem is that the locality, functional sectors and business community, including the people, need to grasp and thereby make good use of the "golden opportunity". Especially in the work of ensuring security, safety, environmental sanitation, food safety, reasonable prices, service quality... to join hands in building and maintaining the image and brand for the destination of Binh Thuan.
