50 years after liberation (April 17, 1975 - April 17, 2025): Tuy Phong - a region of connection and convergence

Tuy Phong has now clearly developed 3 economic pillars, of which the special thing is the industrial pillar with the electricity production industry in the district with types such as thermal power, wind power, solar power accounting for a large proportion, playing an important role in the growth of the province's GRDP.

1. The official information about the merger of Binh Thuan and the two Central Highlands provinces of Lam Dong and Dak Nong on April 13, 2025 made many people in Tuy Phong district hope that the Phan Dung - Lam Dong route will soon start construction. This is a route that has been proposed for the past 3 terms but has not been implemented, for many reasons, although the shape has been sketched with the starting point connecting to the Lien Huong - Phan Dung district road, passing through production forests and protective forests longer than 30 km, the roadbed width is 9m, a grade III road... But over time, with the need to explore strange routes, the route connecting the great forest of Lam Dong to the beautiful sea when encountered in Tuy Phong, many backpackers from all over the region have gathered to create a road because many people travel there.

Not only opening a new attractive tour with accompanying services, enriching the color of coastal tourism, with a nearby island named Hon Cau, but also contributing to increasing the number of visitors to Tuy Phong surprisingly every year. For example, in 2022, with more than 1.1 million visitors to Tuy Phong, the number of visitors to Hon Cau island was nearly 8,300; the number of visitors on the Ta Nang - Phan Dung route was nearly 6,300. In 2023, this number increased with more than 12,000 visitors to Hon Cau island, more than 10,000 visitors on the Ta Nang - Phan Dung route, contributing to nearly 1.46 million visitors to the district. The same will happen in 2024, with 1.65 million visitors, an increase of 13.35% over the same period, including tours, routes to explore the sea, islands and adventure trips, opening up the expectation of attracting many tourists to Tuy Phong in the coming time.

It is worth noting that the route connecting the two regions of the sea and flowers above, in the hearts of many people, is dreaming of a prospect of opening another way for goods from the Central Highlands to Vinh Tan International Port, which could be closer than National Highway 28B. This is the direction to the sea of the Central Highlands down to Luong Son town, Bac Binh district, before going to Vinh Tan International Port, which is being renovated and upgraded and will be completed in 2026. There is that dream, because before, when the Central Highlands Bauxite project was booming, this route was planned to transport bauxite to Vinh Tan International Port. But then it did not happen, and Vinh Tan International Port was formed and for the past few years has been serving ash and slag ships of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Center, carrying materials and equipment for the construction of wind power and solar power projects, contributing to creating the shape of the national energy center in the district as it is today. The transportation of commercial goods is still open...

However, other transport infrastructure projects surrounding Vinh Tan International Port have been bustling up to this point. For example, Binh Thuan Logistics Center (renamed Vinh Tan Multimodal Transport and Logistics Services Center) connected to Vinh Tan International Port has been built in phase 1 and has come into operation. Vinh Tan Station is the same, next to it, the railway industry has invested in a new Phong Phu Station and repaired and renovated Song Long Song Station and Vinh Hao Station to create more satellites. Then nearby, the expressway (Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Vinh Hao - Cam Lam) through Tuy Phong district has also been formed. Now, Tuy Phong residents travel between the two bordering ends of the district like going to the market every day, when the bus routes connecting Bac Binh - Phan Ri Cua - Chi Cong - Lien Huong - Vinh Hao - Vinh Tan - Phan Rang (Ninh Thuan) are always in operation. Meanwhile, the Department of Transport has granted an operating license for an inland waterway port to a business serving tourists to Hon Cau.

2. The statement that opening traffic means opening internal strength is very true for Tuy Phong, when now, there is no longer the scene of walking on quicksand roads, no longer the dust flying up in the sky every time the wind blows up, which is very typical as the name suggests. Tuy Phong has now clearly developed 3 economic pillars, of which the special thing is that the industrial pillar with the electricity generation industry accounting for a large proportion plays an important role, affecting the growth of the province's GRDP. Therefore, just shifting in power generation in the Tuy Phong area has created an immediate impact, of which the story of the province's GRDP growth in the first quarter of 2025 is an example. Accordingly, the processing and manufacturing industry is also in a promising position to rise, when currently in the area there is not only Tuy Phong industrial park, Hoa Phu and Vinh Tan industrial clusters, but in the near future, the district will also be supplemented with the planning of the northern industrial park of Binh Thuan province with an area of about 500 hectares in Lang Trong area, Hoa Minh commune.

Meanwhile, agriculture has made a big step forward, from water scarcity to water availability, thanks to the area having 3 reservoirs that complement each other, especially Phan Dung Lake on high ground, storing and transferring water to the plains when needed. Moreover, at the end of 2024, Tuy Phong land will have another water source, when there is a canal to transfer water from Ca Giay Lake (Bac Binh). However, with this harsh climate, people here understand that there is water but it will also run out quickly, so from there, they choose to produce suitable crops that save water. As a result, Tuy Phong has a large land area but the rice fields are only over 400 hectares, the rest are fruit trees such as apples, grapes, dragon fruit grown in greenhouses, applying advanced techniques, ensuring productivity and quality in harsh conditions. From here, not only creating typical OCOP products but also creating a position for new services to appear such as garden tourism services.

In fact, services keep emerging according to demand like that, plus in the period of 2021-2025, Tuy Phong implemented the "Project to accelerate the development of services, especially trade and tourism", so the service sector in general has had outstanding results. According to the report of Tuy Phong District People's Committee, in the trade sector alone, in addition to Co.op mart supermarket, Bach Hoa Xanh store, shops, production and business establishments have increased rapidly over time, to date there are about 3,160 establishments. Specifically, if in 2021, the district had 115 establishments, in 2022 there were 161 more establishments, in 2023 there were 198 more establishments, in 2024 there were 230 more establishments. That is not to mention the traditional market system in the district center and communes has been repaired and newly built. Besides, many restaurants and hotels have also been formed and put into operation. On the Lien Huong - Binh Thanh - Chi Cong - Phan Ri Cua route and many main routes of Lien Huong town and Phan Ri Cua town, business and trade are crowded; commerce and services can be said to be bustling. From here, changes spread to advantageous rural areas.

Thanks to the clear development of the three economic pillars, Tuy Phong not only has more rich and well-off households but also has eliminated many poor households. As a result of implementing Resolution No. 08 of the District Party Committee (9th term) on sustainable poverty reduction in the period of 2021-2025, Tuy Phong has reduced 531/779 poor households, exceeding the set target.

In the past 5 years, Tuy Phong's budget revenue has been higher year after year, exceeding the assigned estimate, with one year increasing by 60% with a total budget revenue of 1,750.5 billion VND. Specifically, in 2021, the budget revenue was more than 300.8 billion VND, reaching 161.8%; and in 2024, the revenue was 345 billion VND, reaching 103.1%, despite difficulties in collecting land use fees due to specific land prices... But in the first quarter of 2025, the district's land use fee collection is estimated to reach 11,000 million VND, contributing to the total revenue of 85 billion VND.
