Tam Dao develops sustainable tourism

Based on the province's orientation and direction as well as assessment of local conditions and actual situations, Tam Dao district has proactively implemented a series of specific solutions to promote tourism development advantages.

The focus is on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of State management in the tourism and service sectors; developing new tourism products; encouraging creativity and flexibility from local tourism businesses; while ensuring the environment, security and order, and increasingly professional and civilized service quality.

Not stopping at exploiting available resources, Tam Dao also focuses on building a solid foundation for sustainable tourism development through important resolutions and projects such as the Project on Preserving and Promoting Traditional Cultural Values ​​of the San Diu Ethnic Group in the period of 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030; Resolution of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on developing tourism in Tam Dao district to 2025, with a vision to 2030; Project on Building Civilized and Friendly Tam Dao People to Meet the Requirements of Sustainable Development...

Along with cultural preservation, Tam Dao focuses on investing and perfecting tourism infrastructure in a synchronous and modern direction, meeting the increasing needs of tourists.

In 2023, Tam Dao will receive 27 billion VND from the provincial and district budget to invest in projects serving tourism development such as the project of connecting Dong Dau bridge through Dum stream, Dong Tinh commune (Tam Duong) with Hop Chau - Dong Tinh route to Tay Thien scenic area; renovating and upgrading Thong Temple yard, Tay Thien Festival Cultural Center, etc.

In 2024, the district coordinated with relevant agencies and units to submit to the Provincial People's Committee the general urban planning of Tam Dao until 2040. The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee approved the detailed planning project at a scale of 1/500 for urban renovation, embellishment and development in Hop Chau town and Dai Dinh town. The District People's Council approved the architectural management regulations for rural residential areas in Minh Quang, Ho Son, Tam Quan, Bo Ly and Yen Duong communes. These projects not only contribute to completing the transportation network but also expand the connectivity between tourist destinations, creating favorable conditions for the development of tours and interconnected routes.

In addition, Tam Dao diversifies religious and spiritual tourism activities; weekend resort tourism; cultural and historical tourism; tourism combined with health care; community tourism and MICE tourism (conferences, seminars, exhibitions) ...; at the same time, focusing on ensuring a green - clean - beautiful environment, security and order, food safety, building the image of a clean, beautiful, safe and attractive destination.

Tam Dao's efforts have brought about clear results. In 2024, Tam Dao district welcomed nearly 1.4 million visitors, concentrated at Tay Thien historical relic and scenic area, Tam Dao tourist area and Tam Dao golf course.

Tam Dao town continues to be a prominent destination with nearly 500 thousand visitors, of which international visitors increased more than 3 times compared to the same period in 2023. Notably, 2024 is the third consecutive year that Tam Dao town has been honored by the World Travel Awards as "World's Leading Destination Town". This is not only a source of pride but also international recognition for Tam Dao's correct and sustainable steps in tourism development.

The provincial planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, identifies Tam Dao as a center for resort, ecological, sports, cultural tourism... of the province and the whole country. This is the basis, premise, and condition to awaken the potential, space, and advantages, create a breakthrough, open up new opportunities and development space for Tam Dao, but also sets out the requirements for preserving identity and sustainable development to affirm its position on the domestic and world tourism map. From a destination with much untapped potential, Tam Dao is strongly growing to become a friendly tourist destination with a strong cultural identity.

In the coming time, Tam Dao district will continue to invest in infrastructure; develop high-quality tourism human resources; promote and advertise tourism images, bring Tam Dao's image to a large number of friends and domestic and foreign tourists; build tourism products associated with local culture; complete and promulgate the Project on Building civilized and friendly Tam Dao people, meeting the requirements of sustainable development; turn the "smokeless industry" into a spearhead economic sector, contributing to growth, economic restructuring, gradually increasing the proportion of tourism - services in production value and creating more jobs, increasing income for people.
