The first commercial ship was towed into Hoa Phat Dung Quat General Container Port
With an investment capital of over VND 3,700 billion, the Hoa Phat Container Port project includes 3 berths (No. 6, 7 and 8). The expected annual handling capacity is 6 million tons of cargo, capable of receiving ships with a capacity of up to 50,000 DWT. Of which, the capacity of phase 1 (berth No. 6) is 2 million tons of cargo/year. The project started construction in early 2022.
While Hoa Phat Dung Quat specialized port only serves the internal loading and unloading needs of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex, the General Container Port is an international seaport, serving the general needs of loading and unloading goods, logistic services and port logistics in Dung Quat economic zone and neighboring areas.
To ensure progress, in recent times, Hoa Phat General Port Company has stepped up investment in construction, and at the same time deployed many solutions regarding human resources, technology and means to put into operation to ensure quality, efficiency and safety.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trinh - Deputy Director of Hoa Phat General Port Company said: "The event of welcoming the first commercial ship is of great significance, marking the launch of the first berth of the port on schedule. From now on, Dung Quat port cluster has an additional international seaport unit providing logistics services, professional loading and unloading, modern equipment to serve the development of Dung Quat economic zone".
The port uses modern European equipment.
In phase 1, the port operates a main wharf, ensuring the reception of ships with a capacity of up to 50,000 DWT with many modern equipment. In particular, the typical rotating base crane with a lifting capacity of up to 32 tons, provided by the world's leading units, along with many serving transportation equipment such as: tractor transport vehicles, dump trucks, forklifts of 5 tons, 15 tons, 28 tons...
Previously, Hoa Phat General Port received the first tugboat named Hai Au 3 built by Damen Group, Netherlands to serve the company's port system. According to the plan, the company will receive tugboat Hai Au 4 at the end of September and put it into operation in December.
In the coming time, Hoa Phat Dung Quat General Container Port is expected to welcome more commercial ships to dock for trading and transporting goods.
