The ancient villa at 110-112 Vo Van Tan (District 3, HCMC) with an area of nearly 3,000m2 of Ms. Truong My Lan, has 3 frontages: Vo Van Tan - Ba Huyen Thanh Quan - Nguyen Thi Dieu streets.
This ancient villa was formerly known as Phuong Nam Villa and was owned by Dang Kim Chi (born in 1938) and Nguyen Kim Sa Dang (born in 1934). When the real estate market was booming, this villa was put up for sale for 47 million USD.
In 2015, Ms. Truong My Lan, through MINERVA Joint Stock Company, bought this ancient villa for 35 million USD (about 700 billion VND). It is known that MINERVA Joint Stock Company was established on July 28, 2015 with a charter capital of 200 billion VND.
The building has 3 entrances: Two main gates on Vo Van Tan Street and one side gate on Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street.
According to Dan Tri reporter, the villa is surrounded by corrugated iron, the outside is extremely dirty due to street vendors and encroachment on the sidewalk to make a parking lot.
The usable space of this villa includes 2 floors with a total floor area of over 2,500m2, designed in the North - South direction, according to the order of each block of construction. The main part of the house is 990m2 wide, including 16 rooms.
In 2019, right after buying this villa, Ms. Truong My Lan had it renovated and expected to be completed by the end of 2022. However, when it was almost completed, the project had to stop construction because Ms. Lan was involved in legal trouble.
Currently, inside the construction site, construction materials are lying around, there are no workers, only security guards watching.
The villa is built in ancient French architecture.
The exterior of the villa has also been almost completed.
Previously, at a conference on preserving and promoting the value of architectural, historical and cultural works in Ho Chi Minh City, French architect Nicolas Viste (head of the villa restoration team) said that this villa is considered a national treasure thanks to its designs that uniquely simulate Vietnamese culture.
