Cambodia: Ruling Party Wins 120/125 National Assembly Seats

On August 5, the National Election Committee of Cambodia (NEC) officially announced the election results and the list of candidates elected to the 7th National Assembly with an overwhelming victory belonging to the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).

Accordingly, with nearly 6.4 million votes in favor, accounting for 82.3% of the total of more than 7.7 million valid votes, the CPP won with 120 parliamentary seats; the remaining 5 parliamentary seats belonged to the royalist party FUNCINPEC with more than 700,000 votes in favor, accounting for more than 9% of the total valid votes.

According to the official results announced by the NEC, candidate Hun Manet and 10 other candidates of the ruling party were elected as members of the 7th National Assembly of Cambodia in the Phnom Penh constituency, where 12 parliamentary seats were allocated.

Also on the morning of August 5, the CPP issued a statement pledging that the Royal Government of Cambodia for the 7th term, to be established in the coming days, headed by Dr. Hun Manet, will continue to strengthen national unity and strive to successfully implement the announced political platform, responding to the people's trust in the CPP.
