Improved underground transportation for miners

Underground mining is an extremely difficult working environment. Therefore, for many years, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) and its member units have always tried to improve the best conditions for transportation in underground mines for miners.

According to statistics, currently in the whole Group there are about 30,350 people regularly working in the furnace, of which the number of people who regularly have to walk is 22,499 people, the number of people who walk less than 0.5km is 14,614 people; the number of people who walk from 0.5 to less than 1km is 6,107 people; the number of people who walk from 1 to 2km is 1,178 people.

The total number of people who have to walk is 275, of which 22,499 people often have to walk, such as: Mong Duong Coal Joint Stock Company has 3 areas, the walking distance from the station containing the passenger train to the working location is from 0.6 -:- 0.7km, the number of people who often walk is 321 people. Duong Huy Coal Company has 6 areas that have to walk, of which the walking distance from 0.5km to less than 1km is 3 areas, the number of people who often walk is 363 people; from 1km to 1.5km is 3 areas, the number of people who often walk is 491 people. Ha Lam Coal Company has 2 areas that have to walk, of which the walking distance of 0.46km has 130 people often walk; the walking distance of 0.5km has 60 people often walk. Nui Beo Coal Company has 13 areas that require regular walking, of which 4 areas have a walking distance of less than 0.5km, with 220 people regularly walking; 7 areas have a walking distance of 0.5 to 1km, with 1,075 people regularly walking; 2 areas have a walking distance of 1km to less than 2km, with 240 people regularly walking...

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Vice Chairman of TKV Trade Union, said: To improve the traveling conditions for miners in the mine as well as reduce the labor force for workers, increase productivity, every year the units pay attention to investing in means of transportation in the mine, to help workers minimize the distance they have to walk in the mine. Up to now, the units in the Group have invested in: 61 winches; 602 double-wheeled vehicles; 223 electric trains; 14 monorails and 36 other types of walking support vehicles.

Chairman of the Union of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company Nguyen Tien Nhuong said: In the coming time, the Company will continue to invest in a -140 level passenger lift system, install 7 more cable car winch systems to transport people at the main tunnels throughout the mine to serve the transportation of people, improving conditions for workers.

In many units, improving the travel conditions for miners is also being actively implemented. Typically, Khe Cham Coal Company is focusing on constructing anti-cutting, installing cable car winches to serve the travel of workers, ensuring that the walking distance of workers does not exceed 0.5km. In the coming time, based on the actual conditions in the mining areas, the Company will continue to invest, supplement, and rotate winch systems to serve the travel of workers. At the same time, for the upper and lower mine locations with a travel distance of ≤200m, the Company will invest and install winch systems to support walking to serve the travel of workers.

At Mong Duong Coal Joint Stock Company, Thong Nhat plans to continue surveying and making plans to cut, repair and expand the tunnels in the near future to re-plan the locations of the stations for passenger cars to shorten the distance from the stations for passenger cars to the production areas to minimize the walking distance for workers.

Duong Huy Coal Company has been approved to invest in 1 set of Monoray Diesel KPCZ-95/4+2, currently in the bidding process, expected to receive the equipment by the end of 2024 to serve from the beginning of 2025; carrying a maximum of 32 people/4 passenger cabins.

Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company has approved the plan to improve the capacity of transporting people in the Vang Danh well area, and has invested in a KS-900/250 type of well hoist system, 1 system, expected to be installed at the main well from +110 to -175 Vang Danh, transport distance 1000m, 8 well hoist cars, capacity 196 people/trip. The Company has completed the bidding documents, expected to install and put into use for production by the end of 2024.

Quang Hanh Coal Company has invested in an additional set of inclined kilns (2 cars) at +30/-300.

Improving the conditions for traveling in the mine has helped ensure the health of workers, increase the useful time in the production shift, and contribute to increasing productivity and coal output for the unit. Besides, this is also one of the important solutions to retain miners in the context of increasingly difficult recruitment of miners.
