Buon Ma Thuot City is the political, economic, cultural and social center of Dak Lak province, with 40 ethnic groups living together, including nearly 61,700 ethnic minorities, accounting for 15.8% of the city's population. Over the past 5 years, the city has issued many resolutions, programs and plans related to ethnic affairs and policies. Focusing on implementing policies for prestigious people in ethnic minority areas, strengthening the twinning work of agencies and units with villages.
From 2019 to 2023, the city has allocated a budget of more than VND3.7 billion to open 28 vocational training classes for nearly 1,000 workers, most of whom are ethnic minorities. Many policies have been implemented to support poverty reduction and social protection, such as supporting electricity bills and issuing health insurance cards to poor and near-poor households who are ethnic minorities.
The highlight of ethnic work in Buon Ma Thuot city is the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural identities associated with tourism development. Many villages are gradually forming artisan teams, restoring traditional crafts, building and renovating traditional houses into homestays, tourist areas and attractions to serve tourists. The city also opens many classes to teach gong culture, Then singing - Tinh lute in villages; organizes monthly gong culture and ethnic art exchange programs at 10/3 Square, attracting artisan teams, people and tourists to participate and enjoy.

Strengthen and improve the quality of the grassroots political system, prevent and handle the exploitation of ethnic and religious issues to sabotage the great solidarity of ethnic groups, meeting the requirements of the new situation,” said Mr. Tran Duc Nhat.
