Hanoi After delivering eggs to vendors at Dinh market, Ms. Nguyen Thi Luc was about to drive away when she discovered a strange plastic bag in her car on the morning of March 13.

A 44-year-old woman from Yen Lac district, Vinh Phuc province asked around to see if anyone had left it behind, but no one claimed it. She opened her bag to check and found many bundles of cash in denominations ranging from VND100,000 to VND500,000, so she immediately shouted and reported it to the police.

According to the authorities, Ms. Luc said that at 10:00 a.m. on March 13, she went to deliver eggs to wholesalers at Dinh market, Van Loi village, Tam Dong commune, Me Linh district, Hanoi. When she was about to drive away, she discovered this bag of money.

She added that when delivering goods, she usually locks both cabin doors and does not close the side doors of the vehicle, so she is afraid that this is a scam trap or someone intentionally mistakenly received the goods, so she reported it to the police.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Duy Hoa, head of Tam Dong Commune Police, and his team sealed the car and plastic bags. The total amount of money after counting was 1.2 billion VND.

After three hours of searching using professional measures, Tam Dong commune police determined that the money belonged to Mr. Le Duc Son, a local resident, who obtained it from selling land on March 12.

"Due to the family's negligence in the management process, Mr. Son's son - who was not mentally alert - took the bag of money and wandered around and dropped it in the Dinh market area," said Lieutenant Colonel Le Duy Hoa. The commune police have completed the documents and returned the money to the family.

Receiving his property back, Mr. Son thanked Ms. Luc and the officers and soldiers who helped find the lost items.

As for Ms. Luc, the 44-year-old woman said that anyone in this situation would do the same. "It's not my money, I will find a way to return it to the person who lost it. But in that situation, I was really scared because I never thought I would pick up 1.2 billion VND," she said.
