(Dan Tri) - Female student Hoai Anh has suffered a lot of physical and mental pain for many years due to a serious illness. Sympathizing with her situation, Dan Tri readers helped her with nearly 220 million VND.
On January 11, Dan Tri reporters were present at the Artificial Kidney Department, Ha Tinh General Hospital, to visit and present a plaque symbolizing the amount of 123,200,498 VND from readers' support through the Charity Program to female student Nguyen Hoai Anh (16 years old, residing in Thuan Tri village, Huong Vinh commune, Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh).
This amount of money was transferred by Dan Tri newspaper to the personal account of Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa (62 years old, father of female student Hoai Anh).
In addition, the female student's family also received more than 94 million VND from direct support from readers. In total, readers have helped Hoai Anh's family with nearly 220 million VND.
"My family would like to send our sincere thanks to the editorial board, reporters of Dan Tri newspaper and especially the readers of your newspaper. I will manage and use this money for the right purpose of treating my daughter," Mr. Khoa shared.
Female student Nguyen Hoai Anh is the character in the article "A cry for help from a 16-year-old female student, orphaned and suffering from kidney failure."
Hoai Anh is the youngest of four children. Three of her sisters are married and live far away. 10 years ago, Hoai Anh's mother passed away due to a serious illness.
After the incident, Mr. Khoa raised his children alone in a dilapidated house. Some time after his mother passed away, Hoai Anh often had symptoms of stomachache, swelling, and edema all over her body when she was in first grade.
Her father took her to the hospital for examination and diagnosed her with nephrotic syndrome. Despite treatment at many hospitals, Hoai Anh's condition did not improve.
Since February, Hoai Anh has had to go to the hospital for dialysis three times a week due to end-stage chronic kidney failure, causing her studies to be interrupted.
Since Hoai Anh got sick, Mr. Khoa quit his farming job to follow his son to get treatment. His family was broke and had to sell their buffalo and cows to get money to pay for his son's treatment.
