The Department of Food Safety - Ministry of Health has sent an official dispatch to the Hanoi Department of Health requesting to strengthen food safety and food poisoning prevention in the city, focusing on street food establishments, food around schools, night markets, and grilled meat, skewers, and fast food.
The Food Safety Department requested the Hanoi Department of Health to coordinate with local authorities to strictly control the source of raw materials, food additives, and frying oils, especially for grilled meat, skewers, fast food, etc. at food service establishments, street food, and food around schools; strictly handle violations of food safety regulations.
The Food Safety Department also warned that consuming unsanitary food, especially grilled "dirty skewers", can cause many serious health risks such as food poisoning (abdominal pain, diarrhea, acute vomiting).
Besides, there is the risk of intestinal infection from bacteria such as E.coli, Salmonella, staphylococcus... leading to prolonged digestive disorders; or causing long-term accumulation of toxins because frying oil is reused many times, easily creating carcinogenic substances./.
