(Dan Tri) - According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, up to now the police have not received any petitions from relevant parties regarding the rumor that ACB Bank's leaders "gambling and transferring tens of millions of USD abroad".
At the Government press conference on the afternoon of January 8, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, answered questions related to how to handle the case of ACB Bank leaders being spread false rumors.
Assessing the general situation, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security said that the current situation of spreading false information, even slander and distortion on social networks is a worrying phenomenon. Mr. Tuyen cited the case of Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang (General Director of Dai Nam Company in Ho Chi Minh City) who was tried for the act of providing distorted and untrue information.
Regarding the ACB Bank case, when there was false information circulating online, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen said that the Ministry of Public Security has not yet received any petitions from the relevant parties. "When there are petitions, we will consider and handle them according to the law," said Mr. Tuyen.
Regarding handling this situation, he said it is necessary to educate ethics for internet users so that they behave more civilly and ensure more honesty.
Mr. Tuyen also said that the Ministry of Public Security has been collecting information and understanding the situation of false and slanderous information on cyberspace to propose handling measures.
With clear behavior, the Ministry of Public Security will handle it very seriously according to the law if the behavior affects business, investment, and trade activities, according to Major General Tuyen.
He also suggested increasing propaganda about the fact that violations will be administratively and criminally handled to raise people's awareness, to avoid behaviors that are not beneficial to society in general.
Previously on January 4, Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) issued a statement refuting false information that the bank's senior leaders gambled and transferred tens of millions of USD abroad. This was false information that appeared on social networks and was livestreamed by some individuals on various platforms.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACB Bank is Mr. Tran Hung Huy (born in 1978). Mr. Huy is the son of businessman Tran Mong Hung - one of the founders and long-time Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACB.

ACB Bank determined that the above false information seriously violated the dignity, honor, rights and legitimate interests of the leaders and negatively affected the image and reputation of the unit.
In particular, false information risks causing confusion and public opinion, negatively affecting the financial and monetary security of the finance and banking sector in Vietnam.
ACB Bank said that it has collected all the content posted and spread false information in accordance with legal procedures to report the incident to the management agencies and handle it in accordance with the law. Mr. Tran Hung Huy - Chairman of ACB - also shared the bank's official announcement related to the incident on his personal page.
"As a leading bank in risk management, ACB always affirms transparency, safety and high responsibility in all activities to ensure the interests of customers, shareholders and partners," ACB Bank's announcement stated.
