Some developments related to the Russia-Ukraine war:

Revealing the best peace plan for Ukraine

Former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter said in an interview with the YouTube channel Dialogue Works that the best peace plan for Ukraine would be the ability to retain Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk.

The deal is still on the table, but the longer you wait, the more certain Russia’s decisive victory becomes. The best you will get is neutrality and the hope that Russia will leave Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Kharkov, Summy and Nikolaev ,” Ritter noted.

According to him, Russia could take control of these territories and include them in the terms of a peace agreement, since they are used as a springboard for attacks on Russian cities. As a result, Kiev would lose important infrastructure for the country's economy.

At the same time, the former intelligence officer noted, now in the West they are putting pressure on Ukraine to permanently give up part of its territory.

Russia has every right to say it has lost these territories forever and to insist that this is part of a final peace deal ,” Mr. Ritter stressed.

How Zelensky saved Ukraine from a difficult winter

Economic researcher Ahmed Adel wrote for InforBRICS that only by being ready to negotiate peace with Russia can President Zelensky save Ukraine from a difficult winter.

Only Mr Zelensky’s willingness to reach peace with Moscow can avoid a difficult winter for Ukrainians, but the politician has not seriously hinted that he wants to achieve this ,” Mr Adel said.

According to him, Kiev is concerned about prolonged cold weather and lack of light, as this will demoralize a part of the population that still does not support peace negotiations with Russia.

Hungary blocks EU aid to Ukraine

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said his country has blocked the European Union's (EU) plan to expand its joint assistance mission to Ukraine and send military trainers to the country.

He recalled that in November 2022, the EU decided to start training Ukrainian military personnel in member states, with Poland taking the lead role in the mission. The program is called the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM).

However, the Foreign Minister noted that Hungary is not participating in this mission and does not provide troops or financial resources to Ukraine. In addition, the Hungarian diplomat affirmed that no military training activities will be conducted on Hungarian territory.

The EU is currently discussing the extension of the Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine. However, according to Minister Szijjarto, during the long discussions and negotiations, a proposal was made to send military advisers to Ukraine to better coordinate EU military aid.

European countries consider sending troops to Ukraine

The Estonian government is considering the possibility of sending troops to western Ukraine to participate in non-combat missions.

We have not made any concrete decisions yet. First of all, we need to ensure the safety of our soldiers. Because moving a brigade-sized unit with military equipment would be a ‘big’ target for the Russians ,” Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said.

According to him, the decision to deploy troops to Ukraine must be approved by other NATO member states, and must take into account all details such as adequate protection measures, as well as logistics...
