Yesterday, December 25, Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province Ha Sy Dong signed and issued a plan to implement the program to stabilize the market of essential goods in the province at the end of 2024 and the Lunar New Year - 2025.
Accordingly, in addition to the goods and services subject to price stabilization as prescribed in Decree No. 85/2024/ND-CP dated July 10, 2024 of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Prices, Quang Tri province identified groups of goods that need to focus on price stabilization at the end of 2024 and the Lunar New Year, including: food (regular rice, domestically produced fragrant rice); food (pork, poultry, poultry eggs, cooking oil, sugar, MSG, processed foods, vegetables and fruits); fuel; groups of goods with high consumption demand during Tet (jams, candies, nuts, beer, wine, soft drinks).

These are essential items and have high demand for people's daily life, and are sensitive to supply, demand and price. The stabilization period is from December 25, 2024 to February 28, 2025.
The plan's implementation methods include monitoring price developments, strengthening the organization of price declaration reviews of enterprises and transport units to assess price adjustments in accordance with fluctuations in input factors, especially gasoline costs in price formation factors.
On the other hand, based on the needs, trends and market situation, enterprises, cooperatives and production and business establishments in the area proactively develop plans, and at the same time proactively use the capital sources of the unit and preferential loans from banks and credit institutions to have a plan to reserve essential goods to serve the shopping needs of people before, during and after the Lunar New Year, in which priority is given to exploiting the goods sources of enterprises, cooperatives and production households in the province.
The Provincial People's Committee also requested departments, branches, localities and production, business and distribution units to closely monitor market developments, supply and demand of goods to coordinate the organization and distribution of goods when the market fluctuates under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee.
Strengthen the construction and organization of a system of fixed and mobile sales points of essential goods to communes, wards, and residential areas in districts, towns, and cities according to many models such as cooperation, agencies, convenience stores, etc.; organize programs to bring Vietnamese goods to rural, mountainous, remote, isolated areas, and industrial parks to serve the people.
At the same time, continue to coordinate, cooperate and link to create a stable supply chain of goods in terms of quantity and selling price; develop online sales channels, hotlines and home delivery to quickly serve people's needs.
In particular, strengthen market inspection and control to detect and strictly handle violations of the law such as speculation, hoarding, trading in prohibited goods, smuggled goods, trade fraud, etc.
It is forecasted that before, during and after the Lunar New Year, people's demand for shopping and consumption of goods will increase very high (15% - 20% higher than normal days), especially in urban areas, towns and commune centers.
Therefore, there may be slight fluctuations in the prices of some commodities, such as rice, which is forecasted to increase by 1% - 2%; pork and beef may increase by 8% - 10%; chicken, duck and seafood prices may increase by 10% - 15%...
