President To Lam expressed his emotion that the Cuban Party, State and people were among the first countries to announce sending a delegation to express condolences and attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to share the sorrow of the Party, State and people of Vietnam; affirming that the visit is a vivid manifestation of the comradeship, brotherhood and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, as well as the precious sentiments of the Cuban leaders and people towards General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez respectfully conveyed the deep condolences and infinite sorrow of the Cuban Party, State, National Assembly and people to the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and people of Vietnam on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; highly appreciated the General Secretary's contributions to the cause of protecting, building and developing Vietnam as well as in preserving, nurturing and developing the special brotherly relationship, loyal solidarity, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez affirmed that the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is not only a great loss for the Party, State, people of Vietnam and the General Secretary's family, but the Party, State and people of Cuba have also lost a close and intimate friend, a tireless contributor to the Vietnam-Cuba relationship.
On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman shared with President To Lam the situation in Cuba and efforts to overcome current difficulties. On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Cuba, thanking Vietnam for its solidarity, regular and continuous support, practical assistance and assistance both spiritually and materially for Cuba, Comrade Esteban Lazo Hernandez affirmed his determination to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in strategic areas such as agriculture, renewable energy, tourism as well as to remove difficulties for Vietnamese enterprises operating in Cuba.
On behalf of the Central Committee of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, President To Lam sincerely thanked the Party, State, Government and people of Cuba for their sincere gestures of condolences, solidarity and encouragement, and the brotherly friendship of the Party, State and people of Cuba, especially the messages of condolences from General Raul Castro, First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, leaders and many Cuban organizations, unions and individuals.

The President affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to continue promoting the development of the special traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba; always stands side by side, accompanies and supports the just revolutionary cause of the Cuban people and will preserve, continue and further promote the legacy of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong in relations with Cuba, deepening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two countries, practically serving the cause of peace and development of the two peoples.
On this occasion, President To Lam, through the National Assembly Chairman, conveyed his regards to General Raul Castro, First Secretary-President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel, as well as leaders of the Cuban Party and State.
