Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Quan was arrested.

(PLO)- Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Quan has been prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Ministry of Public Security to investigate the act of abusing his position and power while performing official duties.

On January 24, the Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling - Ministry of Public Security prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Tran Duc Quan - Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee at No. 1, Street, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province to investigate the act of taking advantage of position and power while performing official duties.

The Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling (C03) - Ministry of Public Security has just issued a Decision to prosecute the accused, an Arrest Warrant for temporary detention, and a Search Warrant for Mr. Tran Duc Quan, Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, for the act of taking advantage of his position and power while performing official duties.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, this is the result of the investigation into the case of Bribery, Receiving Bribes and Abusing Position and Power while performing official duties, which occurred in Lam Dong province and a number of related localities, according to Decision on Prosecution of Criminal Case No. 10/QD-CSKT-P10 dated March 4, 2023; Decision supplementing Decision on Prosecution of Criminal Case No. 14/QD-CSKT-P10 dated August 9, 2023 and No. 24/QD-CSKT-P2 dated November 25, 2023.

The case is under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity.

Expanding the investigation of the case, the police identified Mr. Tran Duc Quan, Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, as being involved in the Dai Ninh Urban Commercial, Tourism, and Ecological Resort Project in Lam Dong Province.

Mr. Tran Duc Quan's behavior violates the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties", as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 356 of the 2015 Penal Code.

On January 9, C03 issued a Decision to prosecute the accused, an Order to arrest the accused for temporary detention, and a Search Warrant against Mr. Tran Duc Quan for the above crime.

Regarding this project, on January 2, the Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling - Ministry of Public Security prosecuted and temporarily detained the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Hiep to investigate the act of receiving bribes.

Along with Mr. Hiep, previously, Lam Dong Province Chief Inspector Tran Ngoc Anh and many officials of the Government Inspectorate, the Government Office and Mr. Nguyen Cao Tri were successively prosecuted and detained by the Ministry of Public Security.

Mr. Tran Duc Quan - Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, 57 years old, from Hoa Phong commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city. He is a member of the Party Central Committee: 13th term; Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Council.

Before becoming the Provincial Party Secretary, Mr. Tran Duc Quan was the Secretary of the Da Huoai District Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Inspection Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee for the 2010-2015 term, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee for the 2010-2015 term, Secretary of the Da Lat City Party Committee, Lam Dong Province, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 9th term, 2010-2015 term, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 10th term, 2015-2020 term, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 10th term, 2015-2020 term; Chairman of the Provincial People's Council for the 9th term, 2016-2021 term, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 11th term, 2020-2025 term; Chairman of the Provincial People's Council for the 9th term, 2016-2021 term.

On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Quan was elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
