(Dan Tri) - On December 17, the leader of the People's Committee of My Thang commune (Phu My district, Binh Dinh province) said that the local government is trying to find relatives of an abandoned newborn baby in the area.
On the evening of December 16, a couple in Village 9, My Thang Commune, discovered a newborn baby in a plastic basket placed in front of a billiards shop in the area. The person who discovered it immediately notified the local authorities.
The baby girl was about 10 days old, weighing 3kg, wrapped in a towel, placed in a plastic basket usually used to store newborns, with no papers or information attached. At the time of discovery, in Binh Dinh, the night was quite cold due to a prolonged heavy rain.
After receiving the notice, the commune health staff came to check the baby's health. Currently, the baby's health is determined to be stable, and the baby has been given to the couple who discovered him to care for.
Ms. Vo Thi Phung, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of My Thang Commune, said that the locality has announced on the mass media to search for relatives of the abandoned girl. If after 7 days no relatives come to claim the girl, the locality will carry out the sponsorship procedures according to regulations.
Previously, on the evening of October 28, people in My Thang commune also discovered a 4-month-old baby girl abandoned in front of a resident's house in village 9. The baby girl was later adopted by a couple in My Duc commune because no relatives came to claim her.
