Trump's healing message

In his first speech since the attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, former President Trump emphasized the message of unity, affirming that he was running “to be President for all of America, not half of America.” Referring to the recent incident, Mr. Trump said that the division within America needs to be “healed.”

Regarding the economy, the former US President emphasized that if re-elected, he would end the electric vehicle regulation on the first day of his term, and not allow the construction of auto factories in Mexico and China to bring jobs to the American people. Mr. Donald Trump pledged to immediately end the inflation crisis, reduce interest rates, and emphasized that the center of the economic rescue plan is strong tax cuts for workers.

This is the third time Mr. Trump has accepted the Republican nomination to run for US President after similar efforts in 2016 and 2020. According to observers, Mr. Trump's speech has been adjusted to be gentler, less critical of the Democratic Party and more focused on uniting the country.

Biden's "stay or go"

According to The Hill newspaper, the results of a survey by The Economist/YouGov released on July 18 said that 79% of Democrats agree that US Vice President Kamala Harris will become the party's candidate if US President Joe Biden withdraws from the race. Meanwhile, 51% of Americans believe that Joe Biden should "step aside" so that another Democratic candidate can compete with Donald Trump. The poll was conducted by The Economist/YouGov from July 13 to 16 with 1,582 participants and has a margin of error of about 3.1%.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that many leading Democrats feel they are caught in what they describe as a “doom loop” of keeping or eliminating Joe Biden from the race against Republican Donald Trump. According to CNN, recent developments, from the Democratic candidate’s poorly-rated debate against his opponent, negative polls to many donors turning their backs on the campaign, have shaken even the most loyal allies of the current US President. Although the media is trying to create a public opinion that what Joe Biden has done does not affect anything, many opinions are still afraid that the Democratic candidate is likely to lose the race against Donald Trump.

CNN said campaign donors will be a key factor in deciding whether Joe Biden stays or goes. According to two sources CNN has obtained, donors have told the Democratic campaign committees in the Senate and House that they will freeze contributions unless party leaders push Joe Biden to withdraw from the race. The Democratic National Convention begins on August 19 in Chicago. There is nearly a month left for the Democratic Party to review its campaign.
