The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won an overwhelming victory in the 7th National Assembly election held on July 23, with more than 82% of the vote.

On the morning of August 1, the Cambodian National Election Committee (NEC) announced the preliminary results of the election for the 7th National Assembly.
Accordingly, the CPP won 6,398,311 votes, accounting for 82.3% of the total of more than 7.7 million valid votes in the election on July 23; followed by the royalist party FUNCINPEC with 716,490 votes (accounting for more than 9%) and the Khmer National Unity Party (KNUP) with 134,285 votes (accounting for 1.7%). The remaining parties won a relatively low number of votes, stopping at a few tens of thousands of votes.
The provisional election results were announced by the NEC in the form of a live broadcast from 7:00 to 7:55 a.m. on August 1 on Cambodian National Television, and simultaneously announced on the media and communication platforms of the National Radio, the National News Agency of Cambodia and the NEC, along with many other media channels.

According to the NEC's vote counting results, over 8.2 million ballots were recorded in ballot boxes at 23,789 polling stations in 25 constituencies nationwide. Of these, over 7.7 million were valid and over 440,000 were invalid.
There are 18 parties participating in the election of the 7th National Assembly of Cambodia, including the ruling CPP, the Honeycomb Democratic Society, Khmer United, Cambodian Nationality, Khmer National Solidarity, Democratic Power, Farmers, Women for Women, Khmer Out of Poverty, FUNCINPEC, Dharma Governance, Grassroots Democracy, People's Aspiration, Khmer Economic Development, Khmer National Unity, Khmer Conservatives, Cambodian Youth and the Cambodian Indigenous Democratic Party.
Political parties have registered candidates to run for 125 seats in the 7th National Assembly, distributed in 25 constituencies, including the capital Phnom Penh and 24 other provincial-level administrative units. Of these, the CPP has introduced 274 candidates, including 125 official candidates and 149 reserve candidates, to run in all 25 constituencies nationwide.
The recently concluded National Assembly elections recorded more than 8.2 million voters participating in the election, accounting for nearly 85% of the total of more than 9.7 million voters on the list, the highest compared to elections held in the "Land of Pagodas" in the past 20 years. The election process attracted 422 international observers from 61 international agencies, organizations, embassies and the Cambodian business community abroad to participate in monitoring. In addition, there were about 90,000 domestic observers and more than 60,000 party staff registered to participate in monitoring the election process.
On July 31, the NEC decided to adjust some points in the election schedule for the 7th National Assembly of Cambodia. Accordingly, in case there are no complaints or objections related to the provisional election results, the NEC is expected to announce the official results on August 5.
