Delivering the opening speech at the ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Nam reviewed the 98-year tradition of the establishment and development of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press; at the same time, he emphasized that the country is entering a period of development with new positions and strengths, opportunities accompanied by difficulties and challenges.
In that context, the task of journalism is very heavy. Every journalist must always keep his/her “bright mind, pure heart, sharp pen”, constantly self-study and practice to improve the quality of journalism work in the field of information, propaganda of the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s policies and laws, effectively contributing to the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam…
On this occasion, the Vietnam Journalists Association awarded the “For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism” Medal to 6 qualified journalists. The City Journalists Association also awarded scholarships to poor students who have overcome difficulties from the Loving Coffee Cup Program.
At the same time, the Vietnam Journalists Association officially launched the first "South Central Journalism Award" - 2023.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen congratulated the authors/groups of authors who won the 2022 City Press Award. At the same time, she emphasized that the Party Committee, government and people of the city recognized and highly appreciated the role of press agencies that focused on propagating, disseminating, contributing to building and protecting the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws and the country's achievements according to the principles and purposes of the press agencies; contributing to political stability, socio-economic development, improving people's knowledge, meeting the healthy cultural needs of the people.
The press closely follows the task of ideological work, actively propagates and promotes the achievements of the renovation process; attaches due importance to the discovery and praise of new factors and advanced models; actively fights to contribute to preventing and gradually repelling negative and social evils.
In 2022, although the city has achieved important initial results, it still needs to be more active and proactive to continue to fully implement the theme "Year of safe and flexible adaptation, effective control of the epidemic and recovery, socio-economic development"; deploy key task groups as a premise for 2023 to implement "Year of focusing on unlocking resources, attracting investment, maintaining economic growth and ensuring social security".
It is these vibrant practical activities, along with the responsible dedication on the front line of information of journalists, connecting with the grassroots reality to have hot news information, creating valuable journalistic works, fully reflecting all aspects of life, creating a "golden season" for the City Press Awards 2022.
According to the Da Nang Journalists Association, the 2022 Da Nang Journalism Award has 149 entries from 163 authors/groups of authors from 32 central and local press agencies. Of which, there are 57 written press works; 37 television works; 8 radio works; 39 electronic press works; 8 photojournalism works. According to the assessment, in 2022, the city's press agencies have a large number of entries with good quality.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 35 works winning the 2022 City Press Awards; including: 7 first prizes, 6 second prizes, 6 third prizes, 16 consolation prizes in the following categories: print newspaper (14 works), electronic newspaper (9 works), radio (2 works), television (8 works), press photos (2 works).
The Natural Resources and Environment Newspaper submitted 1 work: "Inadequacies in agricultural and forestry land management in Hoa Vang district (Da Nang city)" (3 parts) by the author group: Da Hai - Lan Anh - Van Ha to compete in the Electronic Newspaper category and won the Encouragement Prize of the City Press Award 2022.
